hi

for some reason, whenever I drive pass an area with stinky smell, the smell seems to come into my car even though all the windows and doors are closed and selected the air-circulate within the car option. I replaced the filter behind the passenger compartment in an attempt to fix it, but no luck, bad smell still coming in whenever I drive pass a stinky area.

anyone got any idea on the reason for that and how to fix this annoying problem??

well its not like our cars are air tight, nor would want a car thats air tight~ just use that place to drive past on a date when you need to fart and it'll be all G

Welcome to the club. I have a similar question (air on recirc and I can still smell outside air) and have been meaning to ask the folks here. Thanks for asking the question. Hopefully someone has an idea how to correct this, or we may just have to live with this.

but my other friends's cars do not have this problem while passing the same areas, and all others who are sitting in my car comment that other cars they ever sit in do not have this problem
the smell is very strong that it is not much different from having the windows opened

btw, mine is a 2006 Lexus IS 250 AWD

i have the same problem with my 2007 IS250, thanks for asking and would be really appreciated if someone can help us here.

Replace the cabin air filter. This solved all bad smell issues for me in my IS. I bought a Wix 24511 Cabin Air Filter. Took about 10 minutes to change.

Or use the OEM carbon air-cabin filter.

I don't seem to have that problem...and this was before I changed out the OE in-cabin filter. I was driving on the HWY and off to the right is the county's land fill...and on a hot day its quite delightful. Somehow the circulate was NOT on, and I started to smell it. Switched it to circulate, and within 10 seconds the smell was gone.

not all cars have that option " ==-----==", i think it was 350s only.
