Default HID converson for IS 2011 Fog Lights?

Hi,

Just curious for people who have converted, which kits did you use to change the for lights to HID?

Depending on my path I take I am not sure since had a two idea depending if possible.
- Would changing to HID projectors work?
- Able to use D2S?

There are 3 ways people typically do it.

1. Buy an HID retrofit kit. There are a few vendors that offer high quality kits. The 2IS projectors are okay for this, but not great. They don't really blind oncoming traffic much, but they don't have a really great spread. It's better than the halogens I suppose, and not like putting them into halogen reflector housings, which is quite bad.

2. Buy a set of factory HID headlights. This is slightly better than doing a retrofit into your existing housings, however the main benefit of this setup (auto-leveling to keep the lights out of other driver's eyes) won't work without adding a bunch of other stuff to the car. I'm not aware of anyone who has retrofitted the AFS or Auto-Leveling system. Also, the 2IS factory HID housings are barely better than the halogens as far as spread/cutoff go. It is the most expensive setup (though you could get the LED DRL's if that interested you by ordering the 2011 headlights).

3. HID projector retrofit from another car (SC430, TSX, etc.). This will give you the best beam pattern possible, and is the mid-price point option. Downside is that you (or someone else) will need to molest your factory headlights to do this, which always means risks. Still it will give you the nicest light output, albeit without Auto-Leveling or AFS, but if adjusted right, that won't usually be THAT much of a pain.

Opps sorry Jeff.

I forgot to clarify, I was referring about the fog lights changing to HID. I just corrected the title thread for clarity.

Was wondering why you were mentioning auto leveling/AFS in there.

For the fogs, you've got basically 2 options.

1. Buy an HID retrofit kit, it does what it says it does.

2. Buy the JDM Lexus Accessory HID fog lights. These are expensive, and you may not like the way they look.

I have seen them for the 2011, but they are no longer HID, it's LED and color temp of 4300K. Eeek!!
