Default Did I broke in carbin filter lid?

Hi CL,
last month I open the air carbin air filter to change the filter, when I tried to open the filter lid, it couldn't open all the way up for me to able to pop the filter out of it place, is it support to be open all the way up? but anyway I tried to open the lid all the way up it feel like it stuck, so I can't open it and I tried a little force to pull up and heard something crack and the lid pop up freely easy like it not secure to close the filter? but anyway after that matter I found out on the air control unit, when I press cycle air like block the air come from the out side, but the air still come from the out side? so now I can not block or close the out coming air to get inside the car please help!

Yep, you broke it, and it's an expensive repair. The A/C needs to be in recirc mode, if you try to replace the filter with it in fresh air mode, it will be hard to get out as you found out, and if you insist, you will break parts.

See this, the recirc mode is not mentioned until page 4, but as you discovered it's a very important step

Yup, that is how I broke mine recently. I got a used cabin door and servo on ebay and will attempt to change it this weekend. The dam stealership wanted to charge me $1500 to change that little door.

I broke the the arm that opens the door and connected to the servo but the whole upper housing has to be replaced. They really should of put a warning sign not to open unless it is on recirculate.

thank god im not the only one who broke his/her cabin door....

i had to turn off the AUTO button or else it makes a nasty jamming noise when it jumps off circulating mode.

i just control the A/C manually now and have to make sure it stays on circulating or else it will make that nasty noise again.

stealership wanted $1500 to replace it.. &#*$ that!!!

The pretty clearly do give such a warning in the owners manual where it explains how to change the filter... it's jut nobody reads manuals anymore.

I got the same problem..I posted a thread about it. The door is intermittent. I didnt touch the thing all I did was push the recirculate button alot and the cabin air filter door started jamming. They wanted 1200 but i said no and do the same thing as you now....but i digress

Hi guys, I got a good new, I finally fix it this morning it took me 10mins to get where the servo, as soon as I remove the plastic hose for the passenger foot air the broken arm of the filter lid felt out, but anyway the hardest part for me to finish the fix is to remove the filter lid, fist I tried to remove the whole flow air unit which didn't success I finally figure out how to remove the lid, when the lid removed I took that broken arm screw it back to the lid and out it back on, now everything work normal which I am happy now, I learned my lesson next time if I want to fix something have to read the manual first, man the dealer quote me about $700 just for parts
