Default Which car should I buy now?

I have an IS350 and I'm looking to buy another car within the next two weeks. My sister will be driving it for a while.
She loves my IS350 but I don't want to give her mine unless I can find something better than the IS350

I have been looking at Infiniti Gs, Acura TLs, 3 series and C.

Here are some of my requirements: year 2005+ and a budget of about 25k. I want something reliable like my IS and the build quality to be good. I have heard bmw and mercedes aren't that reliable. If there are certain models that don't have reliability issues, i'm willing to but those. For example if the E class has less problems then I might think of getting an E with higher mileage rather than C with lower mileage.

Please help me out, my head hurts from searching

If you want reliability, you won't find it looking at BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. It's a simple fact, borne out by any survey or publication (JD Power, Consumer Reports, etc); Japanese makes will be more reliable IN GENERAL than German brands.

I emphasize in general because in this thread, you will get many, many posts of people saying things like the following:

"I had a 3-Series and it was a nightmare!"
"I don't know what you guys are saying, I had a C350 and it was great!"
"I have an IS350 and have had nothing but problems"
etc. etc.

Individual anecdotes about another member's particular experience with a particular car doesn't really do much good. My last car was a 2003 E55 AMG, and it cost me $15,000 in repairs in 6 months. I'm sure others had E's that had few to no problems.

In general, Lexus will be far more reliable and less costly to repair and maintain than German makes. My criteria when shopping for a car were pretty similar to yours (newer, <25k, reliable) and I picked the IS350 because:

1) Lexus is in general more reliable a brand. I've had Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes and each Lexus I had was much more reliable than the others

2) You won't get more for your money (among the models you're looking at) as far as options and performance are concerned than with the IS350

There are quite a few more threads discussing the IS350 vs. each individual car you're considering, so I'd do a search and check those out.

IMO I wouldn't change the IS350 by any of those cars, IS350>Infiniti Gs, Acura TLs, 3 series and C350.

Get the 07+ G sedan. G is a very sporty sedan, imo more so than even IS350, just that it is not as comfortable and quiet and refined. But it is very reliable. E90 BMW 328i would be my second recommendation, because it is the most balanced car, meaning it does everything above average, also I have heard that it is more reliable than its big brother 335i.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the reply guys. I guess I will rule out the Germans. I'm going to look at the TL or the G.

I'm not getting rid of the IS and I don't want to buy another IS. I was just wondering if there are any other options as good as my IS350.

What about top of the line Accord V6 with nav or something?

Thanks again.

Couple of days before I brought my IS350 I actually had made a deposit on a 2008 G, but the dealer sold it from under me before I went to pick it up the next day. I ended up buying the IS350 then.

I think the build quality of the IS350 is definitely better. I might have to go and test drive the G again to get a good comparison now that I have had my IS350 for almost a year.

why care to look for different brand where you already experience the reliability of lexus, just get another IS,might consider 250 for her and keep the 350 for you.

I just want to try something different. It makes it a little more exciting, that way I can switch between either one when I want.
