Default Newbie Time!

Just bought my first Lexus on friday as a 25th birthday present to myself, I have to say this car is a blast!!

Got a 2008 IS250 AWD with only 20900 miles for only 22k which was a great! Hope to have fun joining the group and open to suggestions to sites with performance upgrades.

I used to belong to Lincoln vs Cadillac when I had my Lincoln LS and dropped 15k into it, but I grew tired and annoyed with it...plus living in Washington, the snow just incapacitates my LS, so I wanted something fun but AWD. Was going for the IS, or G37x, or an A4....and the IS250 AWD won me over...as far as in my pricerange, reliability, and mileage.

Here's some pictures I took on the day after I bought it.

Enjoy your new ride! Great birthday gift to yourself! Time to start decking it out.

I didn't let the WA weather stop me from getting rear-wheel drive!

Welcome and congrats on your purchase!

There's not much room for performance upgrades for the 2IS. Intake and exhaust are the most common, however they're not really there for performance though, as the HP gains are pretty much negligible under standard driving. It does sound legit, and I would recommend doing them at some point. Forced induction is an expensive route (and typically not worth it).

Other than making power, you have plenty of options for modding the car. I personally would drive it around for a while, and see what you like and don't like, then go from there.

Thanks guys, I've never had a non American car before so I hope to have fun. Only mods I would ever do to this baby is a cai, exhaust, and tune. Other than that I'm just keeping it clean and beautiful, nice. Though I wish girls around here were as fun and reliable, Funny that I'm the only one in my family who has had a nice car, beyond my older bro having an escalade but that got repo'd by the police since he bought it with drug money

Anyone know of a good brand for CAI, and tuning devices(Only used to the SCT Xcal3)?

What I want to do someday for exhaust is an X-pipe with Corsa dB mufflers....though with a 2.5L it wouldn't seem to make much..."Umph"

Theres not much to be done to a IS's ECU so all of the performance chips on ebay etc are BS.

I consider those chips like Herpes. I've done performance on my Lincoln but the SCT only does American cars, if I did ECU tune I'd want all stock calibrations saved and then tune and then do my changes with a dyno/performance group

all this stuff would happen much much later. The F series exhaust that Lexus sells for these 250s sound sweet.

I might have to get the Takeda air intake, I love free flow :-D

There are no tuning options whatsoever for the 2IS. Your options are limited to exhaust, intake, etc.

Welcome and nice B'day present! One simple mod that I like is a switch out of the front grill to an F-sport one. Sets your ride apart from the average IS driver without spending lots of $$$. Other than that, what everyone else recommends works. I would do the F-sport sway bars though at a bare minimum. Makes all the difference for cornering. Especially on an IS250.

any good links for the F-sport grill? Unsure where to find good reasonable deal without having to resort to dealer
