Default POLL- e92M3 hood on my IS

My friend at the body shop called me. They are one of the best body shops in the Peninsula...caters to high end and classic car restoration. Anyway, he contacted me because they have a salvaged
e92 M3. He wants to know if I want the hood ("raise" center hood and vents - see picture) molded on my IS, and at the same time he wants to mold my 2009 GFX front splitters.

We've been thinking of doing this for quite some time, cause we think it will look really nice. And now that he has the hood available, he wants to know if I'm ready to pull the trigger.

What do you guys think?

I think a hood like that could look good on an IS. However, that particular hood is extremely distinctive to the BMW M3 to people who know cars. I would see that hood on your car and immediately realize you got it from an M3.

I personally am not a fan of using parts from other cars when they're truly distinctive to that car. It feels like copying.

I do think a hood with a bulge/vents could still look good on the 2IS.

Just my two cents.

Hmm, I don't think it'll look too bad. The hood style is similar to the 2IS hood with the curves running to the edge of the grille. I'd say go for it but depends on price!

I don't think it will look that good. The hood will take away from the smooth lines of the IS and also take way from its elegance.

actually i agree. I Don't think it would fit too well. The front grill for the Lexus is is different from the e92. it would take a lot of modding.

Make sure the lines and crease matche up to the 2IS or else it would look very awkward.

If you can get the crease to align with our grill, then I think it would look awesome.

Mold the hood...yes; mold the lip, no. The body panels need to flex along with the car; so unless the car is stricly a show car, please don't mold anything associated with a body panel, otherwise it CAN crack. Just ask your buddy about the chances of that happening.

I like the idea of having something no one else (or very few) has. I'd say go for it.

I think it would look good if the hood lines come down to your moded grill, and if the front was smoothed, the kidney shapes left on the IS would look terrible.

It might be easier to mod the hump and vents onto your existing hood
