2008 IS250 - Did I cover ALL the recalls/TSIB's?
Well, after searching CL over the last two months and having owned my 2008 IS250 for about 3 weeks I want to make sure that I am covering all my bases.
Below is a list of TSIB's & Safety Recalls that I am aware of for this year/model. If you guys notice that I have overlooked something please let me know.
- Floor mat interference w/ accelerator pedal (completed)
- Excessive front brake dust from front pads (completed)
- Safety Recall BLA: Insufficient tightening of fuel pressure sensor (haven't done yet but will schedule asap)
- Engine knock/rattle during cold start-up (Haven't experienced this yet)
- Rough idle & Carbon build up (Haven't experienced this yet)
- Valve spring recall (I don't believe my year/model is affected???)
Some other misc issues I've covered or will watch:
- Windshield weather stripping pre-maturely cracking (completed)
- Nav screen freeze (Haven't experienced yet)
Did I miss anything? Thanks!

Seems pretty complete, though this is all captured in the Buyer's Guide thread. The valve spring recall only affects IS350s. The cam gear issue (engine knock/rattle) and carbon build up are covered by powertrain warranty, so I'd do your best to get those performed prior to its expiration.

Other than that I have also noticed that I get a bad ground 'whine' if I try to charge while listening to iphone/ipod. That definitely sucks!
BTW, my '08 only has 42k mi at the moment so I'll be keeping track of the pertinent issues during the next 8k/30k. I have a feeling that I haven't seen the cold start knock yet as it's still summer here in NorCal. Could be a different story come Jan.

Hey, according to this thread it looks to only apply up to '07s yet I indeed have the symptom and would love to get rid of it. Is there an update that applies to 08's?

The AUX & 12VDC jackets must share the same ground which doesn't take a degree in rocket science to know that this would be just plain silly to do. Cheezy!

how to get dealer to perform carbon buildup/rough idle fix
Hi,
Can anyone share their experience in working the dealer service department in diagnosing/resolving the rough idle issue? I went to the dealer and they cannot replicate the rough idle situation and claim that everything is fine. Any tips on how to get the service department to perform the fix?
Thanks!

If you are registered as a Lexus Owner in the Lexus website, your VIN will be requested and subsequently you will get a notice if your car is due for a recall. Your best bet in getting confirmation that your car needs repair under warranty.
