I have the 2011 headlights with DRL LED, when all lights are off the LED is running at 100% brightness. When headlights are on, the LED strip runs at 50% brightness. I want it on at 100% at all times.
its not hard, i have retrofitted the 11 headlights into my car, and i just powered the LEDs to a +12 volt source like the cig lighter and they stay on full power at all times.
just cut the oem harness that power the LEDs and power them up to the cig lighter and done.
for at least a month. no problems, if there were, no worries, the fuse would blow before any harm could be done. I don't have any pics but i think the retrofit thread does.
led give little power draw and there isn't any difference then some one running them in an aftermarket set up you can put them on a rheostat or dimmer or have them switched where you can turn them on when you want or vise versa, it just all depends on your 12volt skills.....(hot and ground for the return path).. takes a bout 4 to 6ma of current draw for leds to operate which is pretty small so there shouldn't be any problems.
interesting, now i need a shop that will take on the task. surprisingly the 2 i asked were afraid to play with it, 212 motoring and guaranteed alarms in Brooklyn NY.
I finally completed this mod, they wired the LED to the engine. It looks amazing, better than I thought it would be. The LED matches the HID headlight perfectly. Im going to try to take a picture but I do not know if it will do it justice
they just opened the fuse box and attached some wire, he didnt want to cut anything. He said he attached it to the engine and then pulled out some other fuse. He taped the empty hole so i knew where the missing fuse was.
