I switched from 18 to 19s and noted a little more road noise. Also felt the road more through steering wheel. No regrets though. Looks way better.

i think a lot of it is personal preference and what you are comparing it to. I personally think the 18's ride great but my comparison was a lifted 4wd truck on 33 mud tires....

As stated, the shorter the sidewall the rougher the ride, not to mention less traction on rough roads. No way to avoid it in a straight comparison. The only alteration that can assist in maintaining some form of ride quality while going up in rim size is to lighten your unsprung mass. This means super lightweight rims and tire combinations.

Ride quality is the key reason I went the other way... from OEM 18s down to 17's. I also went lightweight and dropped each corner to 40lbs (tire & rim total weight). so I gained in handling as well.

2 cents

sidewall, look it up.

if you could fit 55 series tires on a 19inch rim it will feel the same as 18's with a 45 series.
But ofcourse, no way were gonna fit 55 series unless you plan on getting a lift kit.

I have the none-full face 19" F-Sport, and I would also say changing the suspension does help reducing harsh feeling on the steering wheel.

I am about to discover myself. Got 19" wheels waiting for the tires. Actually, I'm saving up money so that I can afford a decent 19" tires. I want to get PS2s or Potenza S001. I would like to know which one is more quiet and more compliant?

These are not updated pics. I will post them later on tonight! The future looks bright for this car..

I can't imagine 16'' on my IS250 now. I had 16'' on my 2001 IS300 and I thought they were too small for the car.
