As stated, the shorter the sidewall the rougher the ride, not to mention less traction on rough roads. No way to avoid it in a straight comparison. The only alteration that can assist in maintaining some form of ride quality while going up in rim size is to lighten your unsprung mass. This means super lightweight rims and tire combinations.
Ride quality is the key reason I went the other way... from OEM 18s down to 17's. I also went lightweight and dropped each corner to 40lbs (tire & rim total weight). so I gained in handling as well.

I am about to discover myself. Got 19" wheels waiting for the tires. Actually, I'm saving up money so that I can afford a decent 19" tires. I want to get PS2s or Potenza S001. I would like to know which one is more quiet and more compliant?

From another thread.
Hello ClubLexus! I am a proud new owner of a 2010 is250 ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I've spent a while looking for the right car from the Genesis to a three series BMW as well as G37 and 350Z. I just happened to fall upon a beautiful starfire pearl is250 at a Lexus dealership and drove her off the lot a week later! Although I have already done a few things to my car I joined in hopes to learn so much more and check out other people's whips! I'm in for an exciting ride![Woohoo](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/woohoo.gif)
