Have you seen this thread on the 4080/boxology subwoofer box made specifically for the 2IS? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...x-is-back.html

I would take it out just to promote the venting of bass into the cabin, but opening your ski pass will accomplish the same thing. Being OCD I'd take it out for the weight reduction and simplicity.

Here is a pic of my JL bass **** mounted by the trunk/gas door opener. Fits in there perfectly.

Mine is close to the same, My JL bass **** fills one of the blank slots... I will post photos later tonight, here is a pretty sweet box you can build for your IS that is made to JL specs and SLAMMS, its ported tho- so lower and louder bass... not quite as snappy or punchy!

LOL was wondering if I should just use my 12'' DVC Pionneer subwoofer I purchased for $500 bucks back in the year 2000 =0). You think speaker technology improved since then? or just looks I mean its a huge magnet really if you think about it lol

Thoughts?

IMO they have changed quite a bit, my buddys Round Solo-Barics use to be pretty much one of the baddest subs... Now compared to a JL w7 they are glorified mid range speakers! JK, but really JL W7 is a heck of a sub-woofer.... Im sure other manufactures have stepped up their game as well.

consider a 12w6v2 with a 4080 enclosure. last i remember, they went out of business but a member here posted a thread saying that they were back doing boxes. can't go wrong with a 1200/1 HD, but if you're oldschool like me, go with a JL 1000/1V1. if you're planning to go all out on the speakers, you might as well pick up my cleansweep i have on sale in the 2IS classifieds too
