Rubbing, scraping something help!
I have a set of Vossen with 20x9 38mm in the front and 20x10.5 42mm in the rear. The tire size is 245/35/20 and 275/30/20. I thought I would have problems with the back rubbing but apparently its rubbing badly in front. I need help with tire sizing without going thinner. People have suggested 235/35/20. Will it fix most the rubbing issues by going to that tire size? One of the main questions I had was the front rim with the 245/35/20 is sitting really close to the upper arm where the that nut and pin connects will it ever make contact? Please give me some solution on what you did and what needs to be done so I can drive safely with this size rims and tires. BTW my car is lowered on eibach pro kit on a IS250 rwd 2008.

im running a 245/30/20 on my vossens lowered on megan lp coilovers. i removed my bumper and modified the bumper tabs and i also modified the metal under the head light using a cut off wheel and then bent it up with a hammer. i have not issue with the nut or pin but again im running a 245/30. i also heated the fender liner with a heat gun in a few areas. im pretty low and only rub every now and then on the fender liner. i plan on heating it again and reworking it. in the rear im running a 285/30/20 and had to roll and cut/shave the rear but i have no rub in the rear. i can slam the rear with no rub but i dont like the super negative camber or the back lower then the front.

Why did you have to cut off the metal under the headlights? How low are you right now? My drop is barely noticable, but you can tell. The pro kit is only a 1.2 inch drop in the front and 1" in the rear. In your opinion what would I need to do to fix the rubbing. I can handle the plastic rubbing here in there, but I just dont want run into any issues on the highway with bumps. should I get 235/35/20? 245/30/20? 235/30/20? I need some opinions before I actually order the tires in front to replace them. I bought these rims used and they are in great condition. It originally came off of a GS.
i cut the metal under the head light because on some turns with the 245/30 i would get some rubbing (we have crappy roads). before i got my coilovers i was on h&r springs and had zero rub issues. where exactly are you rubbing in front? might be hard to see in the pic but i tuck some of the tire...

as a few others have said, your front tires are too wide and tall.
235/30-20 up front, 275/30-20 in the rear.
the GS has a lot more wheelwell space than the 2IS. as such, larger tire sizes that will typically fit the GS won't necessarily fit the 2IS.

and that's not an uncommon size to fit up front, as long as the width and offset of the front wheels don't compromise fender-to-wheel/tire clearance.
