Great information, I did not know that this was an option with these warranties.

Would it apply if lets say the car was totaled and you wanted a refund for the pro-rated amount?

Yes, the reason doesn't matter. You could wake up one morning and decide you don't want the warranty anymore and get a pro-rated refund.

[QUOTE=chi123;6758692]I was debating to buy the extended warranty or not when I was purchasing the car. Third party dealer offered it for $1800. I bought the car used at 49,270 miles so the basic warranty was ending real soon and the dealer urged me on buying it but did mention these cars were very reliable. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth it. However, I did visit the dealer for some problems in the 700 miles left of warranty for bad gas mileage and recalls. So far, no visits to the dealer ever since for anything warranty related. But I do have squeaky seats, dash rattles, start-up grind, and strange engine noises but half of those are under powertrain so I'm not worried. The warranty definitely gives all buyers a sense of assurance but I don't think it's worth the $2000 unless your car has had a past of problems IMO.[/QUOT

what kind of engine noises? I have weird noises from the engine after i reach 65, maybe i am too sensitive

if you have Nav, it's worth to get it cos replacing the Nav costs more than the extended warranty.....

Eh, my lexus is 5 years old and 80,000 miles and never had any problems. I wouldn't waste my time on warranty, especially only a powertrain one

Whoever that pays for a brand new navi straight from the dealer is retarded.

Just go to the junk yard and get it for a fraction of that cost.

2018 IS 300
28,000 miles

Are extended warranties really worth it? They want 3500 for the warranty and $2000 for tire and wheel warranty. The roads in ATL, GA are horrible so the wheel deal is definitely tempting. Is Jerry that cheap?

FYI you've got a third-gen IS, I see you posted in that forum as well.

If I were you, I'd probably just get the tire and wheel at a minimum. I live in the burbs, but every time I drive in downtown I cringe a lot. The roads do have some nasty potholes. Back when I lived in Kansas City I lost 3 tires and 1 wheel (bent) to various potholes. I definitely got my money's worth on the "Road Hazard", as they called it, warranty from my dealer.
