Default help with woofer amp loc

i followed tt061880 diy amp and woofer install.

and i have a couple of questions. i connected the red/white which if one of the front woofer to the LOC and i get vocals/dialogs through my woofer. is that suppose to happen? if i turn down the gain all the way down on that red/white channel, it would go away.

and also, it seems like im missing some beats, maybe its mids? i dont know.. im not really an audio experts but seems to only be hiting hard bass and thats it.

right now i believe i have it tapped into the ML woofer signal and one of the front woofer (red/white).

im also at a lost where he talks about using a Y- rca cable (2 to 1).........................

any idea. thanks.

i have nav and mark levinson.

If you're hearing vocals through the sub, that means your low pass filter on the amplifier needs to be turned down. Also, if you're turning down the gain all the way on the red/white channel, then there was no point in tapping it to begin with. The sub signal only contains the low frequency sound. The front woofer signal provides a "fuller spectrum" in terms of frequency if you're not satisfied with only the sub signal.

The hard bass that you're hearing is probably because you didn't tune your system yet. The subwoofer signal is at a much higher amplitude than the front woofer. You need to tinker with the gains of the two signals. Turn the red/white up and the subwoofer down on the LOC, and when you're satisified with how much mid bass you're getting compared to bass, THEN you can tune the amplifier gain to your subwoofer's spec.

PS: I have my LPF set around 100Hz, as that's the recommended spec for my subwoofer. I believe our stock subwoofer signal is like 30-80Hz if I'm not mistaken. So I'd be missing out on the 80-100Hz range if I didn't tap the front woofers.

Hope this helps.

Tune it. And I will look into that filter for the vocals. Thanks for the reply.

Btw. Did you tap both front woofers or one or none and just the main ml woofer ? Should I tap both ??

Remote wire. I have the mark levinson and nav. I was looking at tt019980 DIY. And he mention pink and orange. I got lost on that. But I did find that the pink didn't work. And the thin skinny orange wire farther back last connect at the rear of the car works. Is that correct ??

I tapped both front woofers, but I don't think it matters much. I would just tap one woofer. Makes it simpler and easier to tweak.
The remote wire is different on ML and non-ML. IIRC it was the orange wire on the third connector for me. I have non-ML no navi though.

Thank you for the reply. I guess I need to adjust the gain on the Scosche loc on the ml subwoofer down to match the front woofer. I also turned on the filter to 24 Dbc and turn it up to about 90. Took voice away from sub. Still need to adjust gain on the amp. Thanks for your help

Oh. Did you sum up the two front woofers into one channel into the loc?

No I didn't. That didn't work out well; I might have been doing it wrong. I have them in separate channels.

Yeah I might do it in two different channels for the two front woofers. Then have a Y- RCA (2 to 1) cable. I think that's what t019980 was talking about.

You guys don't use subwoofer amps for your sub? I have the JL dx600/1 amp and you can directly use input from the speaker without LOC.

I also have a sub hooked up to the loc. I was told I needed a loc to work with the factory head unit. Nav front deck.

Many amplifiers don't have speaker level inputs...so we need to convert the speaker wires into RCA. If you have an amp that takes speaker-level, then a LOC would obviously not be needed.
