Default Tint Shop Refused To Tint My 2IS

A local tint shop refused to tint my two front windows because of the tweeters on the door panel. The guy said that in order to do it, he would have to remove the door panels and he wasn't "allowed" to do that. He said the only way to do it is if I removed the door panels myself and replace them myself after the job. I mean, he wasn't an A-hole about it, he was cool and all, but that was the company policy.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Thanks.

By the way, he offered to do my IS (only the passenger and rear windows) and my wife's VW GTI for $300 with lifetime guarantee. Is that a good deal? Please advise.

My tint shop said it was tricky to do the fronts, but they had done several before. They did not remove the door panels. I paid a around $250-300.

Technically its illegal to get anything darker than 70% in CA, but most shops will just warn you, they won't refuse to do it. $300 for what I understand is only the passenger and rear window + your wife's gti all around? That would be a pretty good price. May I ask which shop this is?

I'd recommend you go somewhere else. 2 places i recommend and have been to are Omega Tint in Pleasanton, Vince does EXCELLENT work, pricey, but well worth the money, but last time I called hes pretty busy. I had my WRX done here and never had any problems with the tint.

The other place is Best Image in San Mateo, price is VERY good, I took my girl's Honda Fit there, I got my price quote for my IS250 for $165 all around. I can't say their work is better than Vince's at Omega, but tons of people here had their tint done by them and they liked it.

Good luck!

Mine where done without removing the door panels as well. It is a little tricky, but someone with enough experience should be able to handle it.

$300 is a decent price, about average I'd guess.

EDIT: $300 for BOTH cars? That's an awesome deal.

I don't plan on getting anything darker than the legal limit.

That's $300 for 2 cars...that's a sweet deal! If you go 50% you'd have less chances of getting pulled over for the fronts but still technically illegal. Call Omega Tintworks. Tell Vince that you were recommended by some of the guys on CL. He;s in Pleasenton. He's so picky and does great work. Look him up on Yelp.

bear in mind the windows are already "tinted" somewhat...if you add any kind of window film that will be "exceeding" the legal limit.....

The shop is called Vivid Optic in Vacaville. The guy I talked to was actually the owner.

I had my front two windows tinted 50% at Mr. Tint in Santa Clara off of Stevens Creek Blvd. Had my G35 tinted there too last year and the tint has been holding up great.

Ok...I want it to be a "light tint" anyway. I was never a fan of "limo tent" or anything close to it.

When i got mine tinted, they removed the doors panels too. I paid $140 for all the windows except the windshield tinted. Some shops like to remove the door panels so they can tint the whole glass instead of just the visible portion above the door panels. IMO, its the right way to do it
