the police didn't say and the insurance said they will investigate. I can see how it would be mine since i rear ended the Taurus, but the thing is that I was going the limit and I was not tailgating. I look over to my side mirror for a sec and next thing I know I see the collision. In addition, I may have rear ended her, but she also rear ended the car in front of her, this mean that she was tailgating the person in front of here which might cause here to stop all of a sudden and with my bad luck I was look at my mirrors. Could this be no-one's fault since both of us were partly at fault?

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but from the way you explain it, it sounds like you hit the car in front of you and knocked them into the car in front of them. It will most likely be written up as your fault.

Sorry to hear, that blows.
Indeed. It sounds like your fault for sure. In some states you would have to pay for the car in front of you and the car in front of that one.
Usually the officer writes that you were not paying attention or that you were following to close.

I don't see how this could have happened from just glancing at your mirror. If you were not following too close, you would have been able to stop in time going 30mph. Sounds like your story's not gonna convince anyone.

Also, I think the seatbelts are single use and they "break" or stretch out after a collison.

Hope things work out. Good thing you weren't hurt.
Yeah, something similar like this happened to a family friend a few months ago: the other car's rear bumper was barely damaged and the front of his car was all gone. The rear bumpers of cars can be pretty strong while the front bumpers cave in, which I was told is supposed to protect you.

Sorry to see these pics. Thank goodness you are alright. I've always thought a lowered car would "submarine" under another in a rear end collision, and this sorta confirms that. My car's lowered too... =/
