The incident just took place on the 17th of Oct as some girl apparently didn't see me as she was backing out of the parking lot. So sad to see that, i have had this car for a little over 2 months with about 2500 miles on it to be involved in an accident. The impact was on the driver side rear bumper, the reflector has been damaged and the frame on the bumper for the reflector light to sit in is cracked. Since we can't see how deep that crack actually goes back because of the reflector is in the way, Lexus in SC gave me an estimate if it was able to be repaired but if not they will replace the bumper. No matter what I'ma try to get them replaced it, its a brand new car should have quality service. Do you know if the new Lexus bumpers come pre painted? I'm just afraid that they won't be able to match the paint. I have the White Pearl. I am very disappointed to see my car go through all of this, still new is what frustrates me even more.

If you take it to get repaired at a Lexus dealer they will match the paint perfectly and most likely will do the best job and leave the car like new again. Tell them straight up that you want it replaced, not repaired. Cost shouldn't be a problem since that girl should be the one paying for all the damages.

Ya thats what i figured because the cost of labor to repair it alone is 256$ and thats without paint work. The cost of a new bumper is just 400$ so i wouldn't think its a big deal. Not sure if bumper comes prepainted, but I'm sure they have there own factory paints for repairs. I will talk to my local Lexus once the insurance gives me the ok to schedule an appt. So disappointed my heart stopped as i heard the bang, i think I'm still in shock from what happened =[ I will be uploading pics tomorrow morning of the damage and hopefully to get a good before and after result.

Ya i was thinking the same thing. Don't tell me there going to remold the bumper and sand it out to be smooth again and repaint it. I wouldn't expect that, not from a Lexus.

Unfortunately, none of the Lexus body panels come pre-painted from the factory, they come unpainted. They only way they are painted is by a paint shop - which most likely includes Sewell, even thou they are painted, they had a paint shop do it. The only way to get them pre-painted, is to get a new car as the body panels are painted from the factory when the car is being manufactured.
One other thing is that, factory paint is done by robot (which uses up to 30% less paint), while a paint shop does it by hand - therefore the quality of the paint will never be perfect to factory paint, due to the paint formula and the paint thickness consistency throughout the panel. Even thou it may look the same, reality, they are not.

I take that slightly back. Bumpers can come pre-painted but none of North American dealerships would be able to do it (I was speaking to Jeff Lange about this for my own body panels). Unless you can get it from Lexus Japan, then that's a going to be a bit of a challenge.

Sorry to hear about the accident. I know the pain especially when the car is still so fresh. But don't worry, you wouldn't be able to see any difference even with a magnifying glass after the bumper is replaced. I am sure you will get the car back as good as new and forget about the accident in no time.
