I tried a set of Conti's DWS last time on my wifes 330, but compared to the RE's she was used to they were very noisy... I guess the harder compound for the "s" rating... long story short, in 1.5 weeks she made me swap them back to the newer replacement RE's... Seemed to handle well for all seasons though..

I might try the Conti's DW's next time just to give them a fair shot...

IIRC someone posted a link to the warranty a while ago... it requires regular tire rotation to be valid... which non-AWD IS drivers general aren't doing.

That's probably worth being aware of if you consider the warranty a selling point
Only ******** store managers pull out that argument about rotation. No way anybody can prove otherwise because u can counter that u rotate the tires yourself.

what the warranty says BTW (and it's a pro-rated warranty)

In addition, you must present a completed rotation
schedule contained in the original owner’s copy of the tire’s Limited
Warranty and Adjustment Policy
then later in the document-
Owner must rotate tires
at least every 6,000 to 8,000 miles (10-13,000 kilometers) or sooner if
uneven treadwear begins to appear

It mentions several times the warranty doesn't cover you if they wore out unevenly... so good luck convincing them you rotated your staggered wheels yourself if they show the traditional 2IS inner-wear-only marks on the front or something.

I don't think he meant that all season sucks and should never be put on any car. What he means is that if you compare them to a dedicated seasonal tire then yes they are greatly inferior. However, people have many reasons for buying all season tires vs a dedicated tire for certain weather conditions. It all depends on what you are looking for in a tire and as mentioned already what are you willing to compromise if you are on a budget. Some people see a dedicated seasonal tire as the safest route to go and some people who are on budgets have to settle for a all season tire. In the end if you drive safe and alert then any tire would be fine (unless of course you are running summer tires in the winter, then you are screwed ).
