Red face Preferred tire for long life and great handling even in rain

What tire does everyone prefer for long life, and great in rain occasionally? Someone told me nitto's but don't they have soft rubber leading to a shorter life? What size tire for 19x9 fronts and 19x10.5 rears? My is250 is lowered with zero wheel well gap on stock 18's. I don't want the tire stretched so much that the rim is protecting the tire. Wondering if I need to raise the car a little? ....

You can have very long life or very great handling, not both.

A tire that lasts for 70,000 miles isn't going to offer the best performance.

A tire that offers the best performance won't last half as long as 70,000 miles.

Personally I prefer better handling (and more importantly better stopping distance) over super long tire life... so I'm running the Hankook Ventus V12s... they're about half the price of something like a Michelin PS2 while offering slightly better performance. From seeing others that have run them a while I expect to get somewhere in the 25-30k range out of a set.

Are you looking for a dedicated tires or all season tire?

Summer: Michelin Super Sport
Winter: Bridgestone Blizzaks
All Season: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

i call a long life not replacing every couple years. i would probably average about 12k miles a year. not far to travel in hawaii. I am also looking at the fact that 19x 9's and 19x10.5's won't be cheap. i'm guessing maybe 1000-1200 per set? obviously I would replace the rears more often on my RWD. No one has said Yay! to Nitto. I have always liked BFG's, but I've heard people liking Falkens. what's your take?

I'm looking for a dedicated tire. I will store the stock wheels. I purchased another set of TPMS's for this cause. I'm in Hawaii for the next few years, but live in washington state.

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires are great tires and probably the best bang for the buck compared to Michelin, Toyo, Pirelli and Nitto.

A few friends have them on their cars and I haven't heard a complaint yet!

I think i'd prefer performance and safety over long life as well. Even though it's a chunk of change to replace big wide tires.

Hankook Ventus V12's are good. Also had good experiences with Toyo Tires too, specially the Proxes 4 and T1R's.

I used to have Ventus V12 on my car but if you ask me how i like it, answer will be "it's alright". By the way, i have Nitto on my car and love it (quite tires, great traction)

Which Nittos do you have? The only comparison I've seen with the V12s to any Nittos before was here:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

Where the nittos finished pretty poorly in comparison (second to last out of 9 tires tested, way behind the Hankooks).... but those are the Invos specifically.

As some others have pointed out, the Hankooks are generally reviewed pretty highly, especially considering their price point.
