IS250 is slower than an SI but I don't think it would be noticeably slower. The 6-speed auto in sports mode is actually pretty good and makes the car feel faster than it really is. It is by no means fast but it's enough to keep up with traffic and feel sporty. If you want more speed, get an IS350. I think you'll miss rowing through the gears so you might want to consider a weekend car if you can swing it.

I love my setup. IS250 daily driver and S2000 weekend car.

I don't think anybody's claiming that 4.5 is a normal time.

Well, I think there was one poster on the previous page who suggested that 4.4 to 4.6 is normal for an IS350 with mods, but nobody agreed with him, and there's no reason to agree with him.

I post statistics as they are and let people come up with their own conclusions. If people want a reasonable 0 to 60 range for a bone stock IS350, I'd cite what several magazine sources have reported for optimal times (ranging from 4.9 to 5.3 - including Lexus' official update of 0 to 60 in 5.3 for the IS350) and let the person decide how much to arbitrarily add to come up with "reasonable" every day times (let's say add .3 seconds to those figures to provide a conservative, reasonable range of 5.2 to 5.6).

But, I don't think the discussion was constrained to "reasonable" times for the IS350 - rather, we were merely discussing what was possible given certain conditions (stock vs modded, flat surface vs downhill).

I'll gladly cite caymandrive's 1/4 mile in 12.8 seconds while emphasizing the caveat that he did it with the passenger seat removed. There's nothing necessarily dishonest about it. It's just another interesting data point.

That's the hardest part about switching cars. As much as you fall in love with the car you are about to buy, there is always a huge comparison between your current car and what you're about to get. I had the same problem. Honestly, Civic Si's are really nice cars, but in terms of a DD, really any Lexus model can't be beat. The IS is far more refined, and form AND functinon follow suit. Speed wise, I agree with the other members on here. I test drove an IS250 before eventually getting my 350 and it seemed decently quick, but it's not gonna heavily compete with VTEC @ 5800rpm hahah. My biggest issue was finding a replacement for my old car, without losing any sacrifices, and I think going with an IS250 over the SI is probably one of the best decisions you can make!!!

I miss my 2000 Civic Si. To me, the honda shifter and beautiful high revving inline four sound is enough to keep it forever (course, a pair of Skunk2 cams and Mugen exhaust helped). Sigh, too bad my baby fell off a flatbed....
