Think of it more like a 4-door coupe. That's supposed to be the latest trend right?? Since when did practicality come before style?...

The IS is very small compared to its competitors. I got an IS as a service loaner and was miserable. Granted, I am a big guy but I can drive the Benz C and BMW 3 with little complaint. Overall, Lexus has missed the boat with interior comfort for big people. Even my GS has less leg room than the mid size Benz E. The SC430 is ridiculously cramped for a GT level car.

Back to the IS. Even the shoulder and head room made me feel like I was a sardine in a can. It appears the car was speciffically made for women and smaller guys. I don't understand building a car that limits customers based on size. There are a ton of them on the road and the majority seem to be women drivers.

Everytime I see one driven by a regular sized guy, he looks like a sardine in a can.

It depends on your size, it is my daily driver and I am 5'7", and my wife is 5'. We have our young kids in there once in awhile, but have also done cross country drives with 2 kids. It is not a that small, but then again, we are all short.

Too Funny - I completely agree with Ice350. But being small, i can fit anywhere, maybe even an airline overhead bin. Plus I only weigh 160lbs, so the seats are great. If I was 6' i would get a GS or ES, not look at the IS.

The only way to answer this question is sit in it yourself, since it all comes down to your size, personal taste, and what you'll use it for. I'm 6'2" and find my 2007 IS350 to fit me very well and comfortably. I love it, and I'm coming from 2 LS400s. That said, I pretty much only drive myself or one other passenger - I think in 9 months I've had someone in my backseat once. To fit adults in the backseat I have to move my seat forward to an uncomfortable degree, but kids are no problem.

But it still sells like hot cakes. It all boils down to having a CLEAR choice.

Someone wants space for 5 go for the ES.

It's very small but I've done 7-8 hour road trips with it and it's manageable.

the IS is NOT that small but if you have 3+ passengers, you might consider getting the GS

my IS is for fun driving....the RX is the "family car"

Never had a complaint about the front seats, and I've taken a lot of people out in the car - everyone said it is comfortable.
I will agree with those who have said already that the backseat legroom is not good at all. The G35 sedan has more legroom. backseat headroom is about the same.

I haven't had any situations where I thought it was too small yet. The back seats are small, but that's fine by me.

There is a ton of room up front. I'm 6'0", 220lbs and it's definitely comfortable up front. I could go back another 3 or 4" with the front seat if I wanted to. If you're mostly driving yourself around, you'll be plenty happy with it (assuming you're not 6'5"+).

I've even had 4 other adults in the car before. Of course, they were all Asian, the tallest being 5'8", the shortest right about 5'. Oh, and they were all drunk. Nobody complained.

Depend on who's in the car. We had 5 dudes (from 5'5 to 5'11, average weight 160) in the car this weekend, nd it's a tight fit.

The point is, it can be way larger than you'd ever need, or it can be way too small for you. It's going to depend on what you're using it for and how big the people getting into it are.

If you post information about that, maybe others with similar situations can chime in.
