Default TPMS Question - Reusing stock tires with aftermarket

I do not know anything about TPMS, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.

I will be taking my car to Midas to reuse the stock tires on a new set of TSW 18" wheels.

Can you please educate me what to expect with this swap? Costs, benefits of reusing TPMS?

Thanks guys!

midas will do the tire swap for 60 for all 4 tires. but are asking for an additional $180 to swap all the sensors. considering this car is a lease, i would have to do the work all over again in 2 years. doesnt seem worth it to me to spend $180 twice, to swap the sensors back and forth. (thats one months lease payment)

could i simply get the tires swapped at midas, then afterwards, swap out the TPMS myself? is that possible?

That sounds a bit steep. Have you tried calling other places? You'll need the valve stem rebuild kits for your TPMS, but those shouldn't be too expensive.

since the TPMS sensors are inside the tire and on the wheel barrel, you can't swap the TPMS sensors out yourself...

that is, unless you have the same equipment tire shops use.

i pay $20/wheel to swap tires and TPMS sensors from one wheel to another. the labor to remove the TPMS sensors and install them on the recipient wheel is significantly less than the labor required to dismount/mount tires, but the tires have to be dismounted first.

i'd try a local tire shop instead of midas.

try walmart, did my swap for 45 bucks(no tpms swapping, just tires)ask every thing you want before they start the job
it's better to call them first to discuss what ever you want and don't rely only on one shop!
