Default Sewell Painted Bumper

Anyone actually ordered one of these?

I understand that they match the paint to your VIN - but how close is the match when its put on the vehicle?

I was under the impression that the factory paint will fade over the years at varying rates given the environmental conditions and maintenance performed on the individual vehicles.

The idea sounds pretty good to me - but is it a gamble?

Also, does anyone have any experience with these non-oem primered bumper covers on e-bay? Looks like there is a few for $150 (free shipping). Link Here

They are painted to your color by Lexus so it will match spot on...if your car was brand new. If you have an 07, that means your car's paint has been fading for 5 years while this new bumper will be fresh. I have no experience in it but the colors will be off.

There maybe a chance of a miss-match as well even if the colors were supposedly the same. Could be better if getting an unpainted one then having it painted at a reputable or high-end paint shop to paint it to the color instead.

I had an experience with the GFX rear, the gfx was orginally another color and was painted starfire pearl, the paint matched, however im sure depending on who paints it, the edges on the gfx was not covered 100% completely, so the edges were still the primered dark color, its not a real big deal, and dont notice it unless you look for it.

From what I've heard the only way to make it seem perfect match is to blend.

I would imagine blending would be best color "match" and possibly be cheaper. That is what I plan to do when I finally get my bumper conversion project going. I think a unpainted '09 bumper is $250 but painted is almost double in price on Sewell.

Blending would be best, but because of the different material the bumper would always be just a tad off.

I would give it a shot. Most body shops will charge you more then that for paint alone..
