Can someone help me find the thread about how to open the headlights and have them painted black? Is it dificult to do it by myself?I have the AFS and i m afraid a lot actually to do it by myself but everyone here tells me that i will have a promblem if i open them.I really like them though when i see them in your cars.

Remove your bumper to take your headlights off, bake it for 215 degreess make sure u have some type of cloth under ur headlights and that your oven is big enough to do it. bake for 10 min use a flat head with tape on the end so u dont scratch anything and pry your headlights open take the housing apart clean the housing with water or alcohol dry real good and spray with hi temp paint let the paint dry put ur headlights back together and rebake for 10 min at 215 degrees

Bumper removal: http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...07l107l0.1l1l0

This guy is putting some cheap leds on his (which i would not do) but at least he provided a good guide on the bumper and headlight removal http://my.is/forums/f154/is250-headl...shield-405995/

Check your area first to see if it is legal to do so. I know our area, black/red out is illegal.

Thank you RDIS250AWD.I like the job you did with everything, especially the headlights and fogs and the molded wald trunk. It looks easy as you say but i m not sure if i can make it.When you say 215 degrees you mean farenait or Celsiou?I should let the oven go to 215 and then bake them?Did you use any other glue when you finished or not?

No way... did you mean it's illegal to blackout your tail lights?

I think he meant tinting the rear lights while OP was talking about the headlights.

Back on topic: I want black headlights too, but don't trust myself to do it.

Factory is different. In this case one is modifying the stock.

Nope, for BC, Canada it is illegal to do both.

well he did clearly say he wanted to how to open the headlights and have them painted black. so definitely not talk about tinting there. But PAVGR I did not have to use anything extra to reseal them but if you feel the need to use the clear silicone sealant people use for window caulking

Oh painted black. Should be ok. Thought blacked as in tinting because I saw RDIS250AWD's picture which looked like a blacked out headlight.

Just so you guys know I AM NOT a professional. Just a professional amateur. This was my first time taking headlights apart to do black housing. so follow my instructions at your own risk if you attempt to do so. I got instructions on how to take headlights apart from google. black housing is a no brainer. I did take my headlights off my s2000 before to install LEDS. But for my IS I did my foglights first bc I was worried that I might mess up

Taking the s2000 headlights apart. this was when I was repainting the whole car from red to white
