good allseason tires?

I'm using Kumho Ecsta Platinum LX all seasons on my awd and love 'em so far for their quietness, comfort level, sportiness, and price. Based on reviews by previous owners on tirerack and my mechanic they were a good choice! Will I switch to some excellent summer tires when they are all done, perhaps. I guess we'll see. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 ultra high-performance summer tires
Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 snow tires
But the Pilot HX MXM4 all-seasons are only grand touring class tires so their performance sucked. I still don't believe that all all-seasons suck though. Ultra high performance all-seasons like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS can actually beat some value priced summer tires such as the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 in some cases. Here's some data collected from Tire Rack:
Conti DWS vs Hankook V12
Slalom (sec) dry: 5.25, 5.26
Slalom (sec) wet: 5.24, 5.61
Lap dry: 31.89, 31.57
Lap wet: 32.44, 34.12
50mph stop (ft) dry: 88.2, 84.8
50mph stop (ft) wet: 89.9, 97.7
cornering g dry: 0.97, 0.90
cornering g wet: 0.91, 0.77
The Hankooks were a little better in the dry, but the Conti DWSs were much better in the wet. Take a look at the 8% shorter stopping distance especially.

I think there is a misconception that a "wet season" counts as a benefit of "all-seasons". No... all-seasons just add traction in snow and ice. Summer tires can be used in the wet as well. I would hope so since it rains the most during summer where I am in Florida

Please don't make grand touring all-season tires representative of all all-season tires in your generalizations. They don't even come in low-profile sizes for the IS. The data above show that ultra high performance all-seasons like the Continental DWS have reduced the performance gap greatly in the dry and can actually exceed the performance in the wet of some summer tires.

Keep the 17" original rims and run winter tires on them, then use summer performance tires on the 18s... you'll get significantly better performance and safety.
AWD tires, on average, deliver as much as 20-30% longer stopping distance than winter tires in winter and summer tires in wet/dry non-freezing weather (and similarly inferior performance for handling, especially in wet and snow).
Why bother spending $3000-4000 plus the 2-3 mpg gas mileage hit for AWD if you're gonna run not-so-great tires?
RWD with snow tires will generally outperform AWD with all seasons for example, while also giving you better mileage and performance the 90% of the year there isn't snow on the ground.
So if you have AWD, especially, get proper tires. They do more than the drive traIn does for your safety.
If you decide to totally ignore all the above information then get Continental DWS tires. AMONG all seasons they're the best thing going. They still won't do near as well in the snow as blizzaks or near as well in any non-freezing conditions as really good summer tires, but they're the best of a generally mediocre bunch.

I also checked 17" sizes and there are several crappy touring class all-seasons available, so I don't recommend these for AWD ISs. If you want to get all-seasons for reasons such as convenience, then go for the ultra high performance ones like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
Just for kicks, here is a passenger class all-season, the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max, getting absolutely slaughtered by the Conti DWS:

Yep, 35 feet or 40% longer to stop in the wet, which is downright dangerous. So even within all-season tires, there is a very wide performance range.
