Default mpg getting worse after wheel upgrade

i hope it's coincident, but after i upgraded to 19'' wheels, i noticed i'm getting 2 mpg worsen from my calculation between fillups. my 19s are forged therefore they're lighter than the factory 18s i had on before, so it can't be the up-sprung weight gain. colder weather maybe? also when am i suppose to change air filter? i'm at 14k miles, maybe the dirty air filter is the reason for poorer mpg.

What size tires are u running ?? I noticed the same thing when I upgraded to 19's with a 255/40/19 rear tire . The other thing I also noticed is the speedo running slower but I know that is due to the 40 series tire in the rear

i'm running 255/35/19 in rear, that's factory recommended size for 19'' staggered f-sport wheels.

You have more rotational mass therefore it would be more MPGs as the wheel would need to work harder to move the mass. If the forged wheels were even lighter, to match that of the factory 18". However if you are comparing to factory 19"s then the forged 19"s will be lighter.

the f-sport forged 19s does weight than my factory 18s, i saw the weight comparison on Sewell.com and felt the difference when swapped them out. however, the 19'' tires are more heavy than the 18s, so if there's any weight gain from the wheel upgrade it's from the tires, i suppose.

Yep, everything needs to be taken in account, including the tire's weight. The engine needs to work harder to rotate it.

Can be proven, similarly if it were bicycle wheels, except you use your feet instead of an engine in which you can feel it.

Even if the wheels are light, big tires are heavy...

It's probably because your tires are wider. (245mm for 18's vs 255 for 19's) Wider tires makes for more grip but also makes your engine work harder to move your car.

i didnt notice a difference but running stretched tires meant less weight so thats probably why.
