Salvage yards usually give you some type of limited warranty. I bought my first ISF steering ecu (from a 2010 ISF) from a salvage yard and it worked fine. They are built very durable and can withstand punishment. Inspect it to make sure there isn't any physical damage. If not, it should be fine. If it's busted up, don't buy it

^^^^Can't imagine any one would since it's a stock part used on a Lexus production vehicle.

The only long term issue I have experienced is that I enjoy driving my car more and tend to push it harder in corners and transitions.

From a mechanical standpoint there have been zero issues. JUST DO IT!!!

Thread started in 2011, and with 24 pages of post's. Not one person has mentioned anything of failures. I think you should be good.

The known risk is some idiot in the past doing a repair or battery swap, connects the battery leads backwards. One of the primary fuses to take a hit is the EPS ECU 80 AMP FUSE. What this says about Yoda engineering is you can't have steering assist failure and cause a wreck killing people as it it highly frowned upon so they protected the *#*# out of the EPS ECU. As such, they placed protective fast acting high amperage reverse polarity diode in the device to protect it from STUPID mindless acts of failed battery installs.

My point is this; although no one has had a failure, eBay purchases come with risk just like buying a used car that there could be a latent failure induced to the EPS unit (or anything else electronic) by careless people.

FWIW my 041 unit is in its 3 vehicle.

You should install it without telling the wife. That's what I do....

JM2C but the 89650-53082 F-Sport 2011 EPS ECU is good for a DD that is not being pushed to a point of traction loss. It will drive nice and be nearly hands free on the straights. It doesn't have that "dead band" forcing the driving to make constant micro adjustments. It drives nice at speed and through the corners. However, the nannies intervene too soon if being pushed.

If you want more stability and less nannies as you like to push it, play, then toggle on ECT. It will firm up the transient road inputs that try to move the car and just let you do your thing. As stated by many before me, it does offer a greater range freedom to play while also reducing concerns/inspiring confidence, as if everything is OK, which it is...

If you are inspired by driving, get the 89650-53041 IS-F EPS unit.

I have not confirmed this, but I don't think the F-Sport EPS ECU may work for him. I read in the notes that F-Sport suspension is required for that ecu. He has a 2006
