I would have a hard time justifying TIS with Techstream because I would not use it much. I do have an annual TIS account for service manual information, and I do use it quite a bit for someone who does not repair cars for a living.

 

Yeah it would be hard to justify getting a TechStream for most personal stuff, but it would still be convenient to have, haha.

Just talk to a technical trainer of toyota/lexus and he told me the steering ecu has the ability to self calibrate.

driving today was really nice a lot stiffer than I used to

Did a 100mph test and the steering wheel is much better/stable

 

Thanks for the heads up! I'll let you guys know once my 11' ISF ecu gets here and how much of a difference it is compared to the 06'.

 

Hope you don't mind me asking but how much did it the ecu run you?

 

Sewell sells them for around $420 and the prices were the same regardless of which IS it was...ISx50, F-Sport, ISF.

 

I think you will notice a pretty big difference.

It most definitely would not. Your SC has hydraulic power steering, the IS has electric.

so ultimately, does the new ECU provide better response, better road feel, or is it just "stiffer" like driving without power steering?

 

I went from 2006 to 2011/2012 Fsport ecu and the difference is more than noticeable, so going directly to ISF2011+ would even be better.

Its hard to explain about the road feel, the different mapping and power assist does feels nicer, but better response and road feel, I could indirectly say yes. See it as, a better assist on each steering angle than before.
