Angry Replacing Tires AGAIN!!!

I bought my IS250 brand new at the end of 06 its a 07 model. I replaced the original 4 tires when I hit 35k, now im at 55k and my two fronts are so worn out that my passenger tire has shredded the inner wall...FYI I have the Bridgestone Potenzas 225/40/18. Does this sound normal, or is there a different brand that gets more miles but still the same tire dimensions should be getting on Monday when i go to replace these.

I ran about 10k on my Michelin Pilot sport A/S Plus's from April until October and have had very little tread ware. My Alpine Sports are also doing very well too. I had those for december until end of march(about 8k on those) last year and just put them back on and they have had very little wear too. Pricey tires, but if they last even a little longer, they're way worth it.

maybe if you don't drive so much? I think low profile tires just wear more then something with a thicker side wall, and manufacturers don't seem to give them that much life. I mean I'm averaging 20k+ a year driving, so every year I don't have to spend $1k buying tires is a good year for me

So you have a had your car for 5 years and are only buying your second set of tires????? Crap man, that pretty damn good. I'd quit belly aching and be happy.

Tire wear depends on your driving habits and where you drive. If you are on a lot of city roads making lots of turns, the tires don't last as long. If you don't get alignments every so often, your tires might get worn out cause of being miss aligned. If you drive fast and spin your tires.... well those are obvious. You need to also get Ntrogen in your tires and have them checked once a month for pressure. Rotate your tires more often to. Finally, tires are rated at speed/distance. When you buy tires this Monday, check to see how many miles the tire is rated at. I wouldn't worry to much about a 140mph rated tire, I would go for a 40-55k mile tire. Choice is your but I buy tires every year. Remember, tires will dry rot so if it take you 3 years to go 30k on a 50k tires, you wasted your money anyway.

Have u done alignment? If not then tire can wear out fast because the toe spec is out of stock spec.. U need to do alignment before u purchase new tires... Well if u in town, I have 4 BS Potenza ER33 225-40-18 and sell them cheap but oh well good luck...

Many threads on this already. If you got 35k miles out of your tires, something is very wrong. They should have worn much faster than that.
If you are still looking for improvement, you need to get your car aligned by a shop that will "tilt out" your tires on purpose. As they are now from the factory, they are angled in too much. Once I had this done to mine, they stopped wearing on the insides.
As far as a different tire, I'd recommend the Hankook Ventus 12's. They are priced very good and give decent performance and wear.

Yes, it's a good thing. I was being facetious. 35k miles is way above average on the ISx50.

^ What's the average? Because i've put on 25k miles on my Dunlop SP Sport's since i got my car, and i'm still at 6-7/32 tread in the front and 5/32 in the rear last i checked lol and i'm pretty sure they had been driven on a bit before.

Will be replacing them soon tho!

I can only comment for the stock Lexus Bridgestones. The consensus seems to be about 25k miles.

Well just got a hold of lexus this morning..$238 a tire, and these tires only last 15-20k. U cant rotate directional tires. Balancing is done when you get tires put on. Good luck to all in the future.

If the tires are positional, they can be rotated side to side (assumption, RWD).

I got Bridgestone Turanza ER33 summer tires - don't think they will last long with a UTQG 140!! Plan to replace them with Michelin Pilot Super Sport when these wear out.

wow, guess i'm driving like a grandmother.

I got 45,000 out of my stock potenzas and i'm at 90,000 now with my continental DWS's. Still plenty of life left of the DWS's as well. I expect to get to 110k with them....so 65,000 miles.

OP...when is the last alignment you got? uneven wear can be caused by a bad alignment.

did you really just buy tires from the dealership? you can get way better tires for cheaper at different tire shops, and get an alignment. I'm pretty sure your toe is way out of spec. Zero the toe out and you should be happy
