Thumbs down IS 250 Falling apart?

Hi, My IS 250 is literally falling apart. I am really pissed at Lexus for producing such a low quality product. When I bought it I thought Lexus was the best now I dont think so. The list of stuff that has gone wrong with my car is too long to list but just a few so you get the picture.
  • Windshield chips with every little pebble (have 10 chips currently)
  • Paint chips with any bump, have a half inch chuck of paint that just fell off.
  • Interior - Vent handle broke (second time)
  • Door handle broke off in my hand the other day.
  • Outside door handle (inner section) is so scratched it's black and I dont wear rings or a watch.
  • Have an engine problem that it almost dies at stop lights, had it in 4 times for this and still no solution?

Like I said this is a small part of the list. Has anyone else had trhese kinds of issues or did I get a lemon?

BTW the car is a 2008 Pearl White with 69,000.

The last bullet makes the car sound like a lemon. Year/Mileage?

Default reply to "rock quarry"

No thats the big issue I have. I really baby this thing, wax it twice a year. Keep it very clean. Funny thing is I have an Acura TSX that has 147,000 miles on it and almost no problems. The paint is in great shape with only a few chips in the front as expected and only 1 chip on the windshield.

I had a Honda Civic that I sold with 140,000 miles on it in similar condition. I really find it hard to believe that Lexus is of lower quality that than my civic but the evidence is leading there.

I'm not kidding when i say that any pebble hits it and the windshield is chipped, I've had it happen with friends in the car any they are completly suprised that the shield chips. There comment is what a cheap piece of "cr_p".

Look I'm almost 50 and I dont race around, I'm a speed limit kind of driver so thats not the issue. Maybe i did just get a lemon.

Since you purchased it new and have been the only owner, I'm sure you have tracked pretty much every issue since day one. With that said, research your local/state lemon laws...and perhaps get a lawyer. That is quite the exhaustive list there and I totally see where one might be pissed about it all. But trust me, that is not normal! Don't give up on Lexus, its just a lemon.

Wow never heard of so many issues... The paint chipping (though not THAT bad) has been a relatively known issue. My car also has those weird "scratches" behind the driver outside handle, always made me wonder how the hell they got there (some chick think mine was hers or something? Haha). Good luck, lemon laws may be of help, and it's a shame that's how your Lexus has treated you, as so many of us have had such a positive experience.

I feel you OP, just got my is250 back from the dealer, spent a grand on replacing the powersteering ecu. BTW, i am WAY out of warranty and this isn't even a common issue on these cars!

For future dealership goers, opt out on the complementary car wash, i found my avs visor nearly falling off on the driver side near the mirror and the car wash looked like they let a 10 year old wash it! I still saw a crap load of brake dust on the wheels and my windshield STILL isn't clean

cant the dying issue at the stoplight be the carbon build up issue?

that's almost certainly what it is, and there's a nice new fix out for it, that'll be free to the OP under his powertrain warranty if he takes it in before he hits 70k.

It's a very common, and well known, issue on the 250 (but not the 350).

The soft paint is everyones problem, EPA required some changes in paint formulation a few years ago that makes just about any car more likely to get chips like that.

Never heard of any of his other issues before on other ISes though.
