Has anybody added a camera to the passenger mirror, similar to what comes with some of the RX 350 models. I have a 2011 IS 250 F sport, and Ive already curb rashed the front passenger side wheel twice. At $200 a shot to get it fixed its kind of getting pricey.
I have the GPS package with a backup camera already, and I know it would be possible to add a switch to the backup camera so that I could use one or the other.
Any Suggestions,
Thanks,
Eric

Learn to parallel park
lol j/k
I'm sure there's some way to get it done. Have you tried going to an audio installation shop and asking them? I'm sure it wont be cheap, but might be worth it if your really scraping up your wheels all the time. The back-up camera isn't enough tho? I find its pretty easy to avoid the curbs if your parallel parking and using a back up camera to help guide you in too.

If anything, just get those lil circle mirrors that you can rotate around and just stick on the side mirror. Yea you may not might like them but they help with parking along curbs and blind spots.

Yeah like others have said....learn to park or drive around curbs. Take turns wide, take your time even if traffic is honking at you lol. I do it all the time if I have to parallel park, traffic can wait lol.

Yeah, I'm not understanding how a backup camera in the mirror would help him prevent ANY wheel, let alone the front, from being curbed...
.....unless he's losing focus of the front of the car cause he has to look down at the screen to see what's behind him. In that case, I guess it's possible that looking at the mirror would make it easier to glance at the front corner.

In terms of suggestions, I believe that Gentex is the only manufacturer of camera mirrors.....in which case you could maybe buy one in the aftermarket and try tapping into the video circuit for the rear view camera.
Or, you could possibly get an RX mirror, and try to integrate it. But, I'm not sure of the wiring issues you may run into. I would suggest checking in to the RX forums to see if anyone knows of the wiring differences.
Not that it's a related vehicle, but IIRC people with newer F150's wanted to do the same thing, and it was easier said than done. I wanna say it had to do with the type of signal or something, but don't quote me cause I'm not a car electronics expert. Further, due to the wiring, you actually can't replace the factory F150 camera mirror with the larger Gentex camera mirror, eventhough I believe they're made by the same company.

If you mean is there a joystick in the car to adjust the mirrors, then yes, if you mean does the whole assembly move then, no
Thats not a bad idea.
What do you mean, nosing in?
is there a technique im not aware of? Ive never had a car like this, mostly trucks/suv's before.
Sorry all, got busy yesterday and didn't get back to this,
The type of camera i'd like, would mount to the underside of the mirror and give me a wide angle view down the passenger side of my car. I'd like it to be switched, so that when moving forward along a curb I could see the perspective difference between the wheels and the curb. I only have problems when parallel parking, taking normal turns, and normal driving is fine.
My tires have so little side walls that it seems to me like the rims stick out and scream rash me! And it turns out I was wrong about the cost, because of the dark paint on the F sport wheels they want 299$ to fix them.

The front does have a bit of a stretch with the OEM tires. Yet on almost any sedan, when coming into contact with a curb, a tire will not protect your wheel unless you have a overly wide tire on a small wheel with a ton of overhang.
How often do you parallel park?

As little as possible, but sometimes its hard to avoid, I usually try to find a lot, or a garage since it makes me nervous.
