I wouldn't really complain too much about the door actuator even thou I agree it is pricey.

When I had a 99 Solara Camry - a door actuator went out on drivers, then gradually shown the issue on the passengers and eventually had them both replaced. On the other hand, my mom who still has her 99 Camry, the doors are fine!

found this from searching, because the driver doorlock on my wifes 2006 GS, has stopped working yesterday all the other doors lock & unlock at the touch of a button, driver lock has to be locked & unlock manually now. Is this the actuator problem the op is talking about? lmk

FYI: car has 89k & this is the 1st time i will have to pay for anything to be fixed on this car that wasnt "regular maintenance"

Lexus reliability is far superior than any luxury brand & most regular brands also, over the yrs between the 2 of us we've owned 5 Lexus's, 2 Benz's, 3 BMW's & 1 Audi

Well, he has a legitimate statement to gripe about the replacement cost of a potentially $5 part ending up costing $200 but to expand that out to say Lexus reliability /cost of ownership is excessive is a serious stretch. Parts fail. Some parts cost more than others. It's part of vehicle ownership, especially a used luxury vehicle outside of warranty. Considering there are very few reports of people having this issue and yet the OP is suggesting Lexus issue a TSB covering replacement of "faulty" parts? Be thankful it's not a BMW or MB.

As much as we are knocking BMW for their reliablility it looks like Toyota and BMW are forming a technology partnership http://lexusenthusiast.com/2011/12/0...y-partnership/
