Default Dealership doesn't even know what's OEM

So I phoned my local dealership today to find out much they would charge to take the tires off of my car and mount them on a set of G Spiders that I have. After a long pause the guy on the phone told me he would need to put me on hold. After a few minutes, he returned and said they could not do it because those were not factory wheels and then suggested a local tire shop. I told he that he did in fact sell G Spiders as they are an factory option from Lexus. I then told him to have a good day and hung up. Really...... who do they have working in their "award winning" service departments? Obviously this guy doesn't have a clue. Sure makes me hope the technicians are better trained than the service advisors.

Technically they're not factory wheels, or even factory option wheels, they were an accessory. Just because it's sold at a Lexus dealership doesn't make it factory. Still, that's somewhat a matter of semantics, why wouldn't a dealer want to mount and balance a set of tires for you? It doesn't make any sense, no matter what the wheels are. Why would they even care who made the wheels?

Hmmm... A dealership trying NOT to take your money?

It's probably a cheaper/better idea to take it to a tire shop anyways...

No, they never came from the factory on any car. They do fit a lot of cars though.

^^ The G-Spiders were an option for the newer IS & GS models and for the SC430.

You can still get them on the 2012 models even..

Yeah, an accessory option, that was installed after the vehicle left the factory with its factory wheels, which weren't G-Spider wheels.

(Everything on that list you just posted are accessory, non-factory parts made by a supplier for Lexus, possibly an OEM supplier in Japan, possibly not. The rear spoilers for example are made by a company in the USA -- they used to sell the ones made in Japan, but no longer do. Even those from Japan were not factory installed though. The only actual factory spoiler for the 2IS is the one that comes on the IS F/ISx50 F-Sport.)

yup it's an option and additional charge will occur when you want to put this on your NEW car,cpo/used tends to have this rim like mine without additional charge because the previous owners installed this option when they bought this car brand new or they upgrade it.i'm just surprised why they couldn't install it to your ride?you should call and talk the service manager if you are not satisfied with the answer of your service adviser and see WHY?

The fact that they weren't installed when it rolled off of the line is of no concern to me. When you go to any lexus dealer and order a new vehicle, before you ever sit in that car to drive it off of the lot, it can have G Spider wheels that were installed at the dealer. Accessory, option, bolt on........., whatever you call it. ANY lexus service advisor should not tell someone that they are not a factory wheel and therefore can't be installed there.

I agree, it makes no difference. It is a Lexus wheel.

Even if it wasn't, I don't see why they wouldn't do it.
