Hopefully soon Vaistech will add even more features!
I chose to mount it low because not covering up the buttons on the dash was more important than seeing everything on my phones screen. If I need to use my phone for another use it pulls right out and slides right back into the dock.
For me it's much cleaner lookin than having my phone protruding from the ashtray and covering factory buttons or having a cable loose anywhere else. But everyone has there own preference.

I did mine a few months ago and also thought about putting the mount low in the ashtray but ended up putting it higher. It does block the am/fm/aux buttons but I never used them anyway. I always have it on aux for the vaistech ml+ anyways. Having it low looks like it is just sitting in the ashtray where you can tell it is docked when it sits higher.

all i did was follow the directions to remove the center console and then used a dremel tool to cut out the bottom of the ashtray the exact size of the iPhone dock connector and also cut out under the ashtray to feed the cable through. I have a Vaistech ML+ unit mounted in the passenger footwell under the carpet that the iPhone cable plugs into.
i used some superglue to glue the iPhone cable the way i wanted then covered that in epoxy so it could never come loose.
the iPhone is very secure and I've never had it come lose or unplugged during driving. i control all the functions via the cars touch screen and the phone sits just high enough that it doesn't cover any of the stock stereo controls and when someone calls i can still see the caller ID show up on the phone without issue.
hope this helps

Everyone keeps saying that but in reality theres no reason for it to be any higher when everything is controlled from the navigation touch screen. its mounted just a bit higher than if it was just laying in the ashtray without any dock at all.
if it was any higher it would block access to the stock stereo buttons on the dash.
All that really matters is that i like it and it serves its purpose for what it was designed to do, charge my phone, integrate with the navigation touch screen and not block the buttons.
but to each their own

I don't have any pictures but go to this website and they have lots of pictures and some videos.
VAISTECH
the next update hopefully will have address book integration so you can pull up your iPhones address book and contact list and dial directly from it via the nav screen as well.
