New law takes effect tomorrow. No one knows if a front plate is required anymore since they screwed up the language in the law.

As a fellow TX resident, I too am very interested in this law. My front plate holder is in the trunk and it will take a ticket to get me to install it. I work with a guy with a G35 that has had no issues with police over the front plate being missing (even though he has been pulled over a few times for other issues). Who knows?

I would like to see a response from someone with knowledge of this situation.

What front plate?

Federal law technically supersedes state law. If the car did not come with factory mounts for a license plate, it's not required. Not sure if the state law covered this since this was true back then but might of closed it.

My car came from Florida and it does not have the holes to mount a license plate. How do I install them is the question? I wouldn't dare to grab a drill and make two (centered) holes to mount it.

The dealership has a template they on the car where the holes needed to be drilled so it will be in the correct spot.

Supposedly red light camera perhaps from what I heard. However the same cameras can get the rear as well.

If you look closely at the front bumper, they are painted over (I have owned both a 2010 IS250 and now a 2011 IS350). In the sunlight you can see 2 dimples in the bumper. You can push the screw right into the hole (not that you would want to do that).
