Default Check Engine, Check VSC, and traction control light keeps popping up.

Does anyone know what's going on? Sometimes I would start my 07 is250 and those 3 would pop up....and at some times i would turn the car off and it would just go away. :O Also I don't know if this is normal, but when I'm in "D" and come to a complete stop and see that the car will idle at 600 then go to 1000 then back down to 600 and it continues... help me please

Carbon build-up? Someone with a 250 chime in if these are indeed the symptoms.

In any case, whenever the car throws a check engine light, it also throws the check VSC light, no matter what the issue and no matter whether VSC is involved as well. So the problem could be anything that would throw a CEL (loose gas cap, bad O2 sensor, MAF sensor bad, etc).

First off, tighten your gas cap. May go away after driving around. Second, either buy a $30 OBDII scanner and check the CEL code or go to Autozone and get it checked free. Then post the codes here, as theyll help diagnose the issue.

Search the forum for a giant thread about "carbon build up TSIB", which I think is the issue you're suffering from. It's extremely common on the IS250 and is covered by powertrain warranty.

What mileage are you at? Powertrain warranty is 6 yrs/70k miles, so even if it's used, as long as its not salvage if you're under 70k you're covered.

I'm at 53k and they said it wasn't covered....i would need to pay $150/hr for diagnostics..

Well you need to get more answers than that. If you have a 2007 I wouldn't imagine you would be out of a 6 year warranty. I guess the first 2007 models might have gone in service in the second half of 2006, but that would be the earliest, and that would mean the earliest the 2007 models should run out of powertrain warranty would be second half of 2012.

Can you provide more information? Because if the problem is the carbon build-up (or if it's something else but still powertrain-related, which it is with 99.9% certainty) then the issue will be covered by the 6 year/70k powertrain warranty.

If they're telling you you're out of warranty, ask why - according to the above, you should still be under powertrain (but not factory bumper-to-bumper) warranty.

if they're telling you you ARE under warranty but this issue isn't covered, ask why.

What SHOULD happen is the dealership should diagnose the issue. If it's powertrain-related, it should be covered by warranty, and you won't pay the diagnostic fee. If it's not powertrain-related, it won't be covered by warranty and you will have to pay the diagnostic fee.

I went to Lexus of Westminster, in Westminster CA. for that "Check VSC" light on issue on my 2007 IS350 40k miles, I was told the same as kchow510 that my warranty was expired and they wanted $150 for the diagnotis. The service rep. said this is NOT a power train issue but a bumper-to-bumper problem..story short...I want a second opinion..

as others said it sounds like the carbon build up. That happened to me in my 250 except i was going about 5mph and when i went to speed up the car had no power then those 3 lights came on and i had to pull over and turn it off then back on... As for your problem see if you can find the TSB and print it. Thats what i did that way the dealer is aware that you know about that TSB.

and be sure to circle in red ink the part of the TSIB that mentions it's covered under the 6 year, 70,000 mile warranty
