Just did this on my 06 IS350. The circuit writer did nothing for me (had trouble getting through the glass to expose a contact) and ended up using a replacement digitizer recommended by another user (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Touch-Scree...-/331555180866). It was pins 2+4 for me, which I could not get a reading for.

Removing the digitizer was the easiest part (a heatgun really helped here, less than 1 minute of heating), and an exacto-knife to cut through the adhesive. I followed the videos about 80% and improvised where I felt I needed to.

The hardest part was removing the A/C vents. I broke two clips and damaged my dashboard getting it out (by prying from around the edges), but that's alright, because my dash has been melting and crumbling for a year now anyway.

This was a very helpful video for the digitizer removal part:

My touch screen works great now although I have a system check light come on (I'm hoping that'll go away in a few starts because my ODB reader is showing no faults).

Thanks everyone for the videos and helping hints!

Same exact thing happened to me when removing my ac vents. I ended up breaking the clips so pulling them out messed up my dashboard. It was perfect looking before that no chips or anything but does get soft and sticky in the sun really pissed me off. I used sugru the black one and filled the chips in and it's not perfect but if you didn't know it's not chipped there you wouldn't know

There's a way to remove the vents without messing up the dashboard. You need a couple pry tools and a small flathead screwdriver. I'll post the link to my video later this week.

There's a recall that gives you one free dash replacement, if you haven't already done it. I scheduled my replacement and then did the repair just before the appointment... I really boogered it up when I was taking out the vents, but now it's brand new again!

Some stats from my experience:
07 IS350 non ML- Fixed! --Black exterior/ black interior--
06 IS250 non ML- not fixed --Black exterior/tan interior-- Still in the works... (after proper connection and perfectly etching the glass, still no luck... it may not be the screen anymore..)
08 IS350 non ML- Fixed! --Black exterior/ black interior--
09 IS250 non ML- Fixed! -- Black exterior/black interior--
and mine:
07 IS350 ML- Fixed! --silver exterior/silver interior--

What I can tell you guys is that all of the IS's I have worked with had symptoms of parking outside in the hot sun for too long and then.... no response from the navi...
So PLEASE park your cars in shades, under trees, under porches, inside the garage and etc!

And for some reason the navi targets majority of black ISs so far that I have seen. So please be careful!

I am located in 91011 area in Cali and can definitely help you guys if you guys need to. Some of the CL members can vouch for me . I do this for free to help out other local CL members!

The best feeling is when you see the members be so happy after suffering 1-2 years of no touch screen get fixed

Wish I could help you if you were nearby Would be an honor to check out your car :P
do you have a step by step video on what’s needed and how to fix it?? My 06 Lexus IS 250 Navi screen went out too. Buttons all work just not the screen. Dealer quoted me 2,500$ 😩😳 yikes.

If your Navigation screen is still showing images and is only frozen, you'll need to replace the digitizer.

1. You can buy it from this eBay listing: http://ebay.us/PdoRNl?cmpnId=5338273189

2. Watch this video on how to remove the navigation unit from the dashboard:

3. Watch this video on how to remove and replace the digitizer:

This will only cost you $50 and 2 hours of your time. Good luck!!!

Anyone have an issue where when they click their screen it seems to move to the right (on map display), but none of the buttons actually do anything in any other other screens (tuner, climate, etc.)? Is this a digitizer problem? My map also has no clue where I am at any given time; I'm lucky if it shows me in the correct state... haha

For what it's worth, the plastic buttons around the bezel seem to operate fine.

Common problem. Your digitizer is bad. The digitizer is not recognizing where your are touching because there is a failure in resistance within the pins on the 4 pins ribbon cable. Here is a link for the replacement digitizer. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...g&toolid=11111

Watch the videos above. It's an easy 1-2hr job. You'll save yourself $1000+ by doing it yourself.

^^^ Thanks. I've been reading through this thread and it doesn't seem too bad to DIY. Dealer wanted something like $1,200 to fix it when I asked about it last year. Thought about doing the re-solder/circuit write thing but that just seemed like a band-aid - I could be wrong about that though.

Looks like I'll order that digitizer and some pry tools and have a "shelter in place" project for at least part of a day... haha

Have since experienced the unfortunate issue with OEM display (2006 - 2013 Lexus IS 350) not being responsive when touched (but displays all information). after further research, believe issue to be defective digitizer as well. Would like to express my thank you to all who provided additional information on Club Lexus as well as elsewhere. While I was able to obtain information regarding the issue from multiple sources, was unable to locate a complete video tutorial showing complete process (removal of unit from vehicle, removal of navigation display from audio assembly, removal of OEM digitizer from OEM display, installation of NEW digitizer on OEM display and re-instillation of entire audio / navigation assembly back into vehicle). As previously stated, came across many sources with helpful information on the issue, and thought it might be helpful if I were to post links in one location to be easily accessed for reference. Below are the links to sources used to assist in successful digitizer installation. Hope it proves helpful;

Mine has finally decided it wanted to bite the dust after 12 years, screen works but touching does not. Are we still going with the CarbonDNA ones on eBay, or the Tanin Auto ones? Would really like to avoid the rainbow effect.

We have been using and selling ours for many years and never had a complaint or return about a rainbow effect. The digitizers are good quality. If you want true OEM our display screens with digitizers already installed are OEM Denso or Fujitsu depending on the make.

Just was curious, that's all. I know for a fact that cheaper ones tend to have that rainbow effect, but I also vaguely recall it being mentioned some have a protector on them that needed to be removed. I placed an order with you guys at least. I'm not in too big of a hurry though considering I don't make a lot of use of the screen anymore. Most of the things I need it for nowadays can be done with the physical buttons.

Thank you for your order! It will be going out today. Ours does come with shipping protectors so ensure you remove them. Please let us know if you have any questions.
