I had a second hand '06 350 for three years and I almost always took-off in about one minute of starting, in outside temperature range from 10f-90f, drove at around 2,000rpm untill warm (about 3 min) and never experienced a problem.

I just got a 2011 IS350 yesterday and already started doing the same thing ( I'm always counting the seconds to get to work lol).

Good to know everyone is around 10 minutes. It was always on my mind why the IS takes so long to warm up compare to my other cars... It literally takes me 10 minutes to arrive at my work place, so it's practically useless for me to turn up the heat.

Yeah that is about right, if you tried romping our cars while its not warmed up the VVTi will not engage (or let alone the secondaries)...it is a GREAT safety precaution! My car takes about 6 to 10 minutes. I start my car and let it warm up for about 2 to 3 min then granny shift at 2K rpms. When it warms up I gradually increase the rev and speeds......it keeps the engine and oil lasting long time

<10 minutes in the winter here, with the heat on. Parked in a garage overnight though.
