So I'm here in WA and we finally got our snow this weekend, out of Irony my LOW TIRES warning lights came on the exact same weekend :P
So I went to firestone and they suggested the Bridgestone Potenza RE-970AS for my stock 16s. I looked up the reviews and they seemed very good getting about a 8.50 average score out of 10.00.
After getting my car back this thing is absolutely the ****!
I drove all the way home with no slipping in our 6" of snow and ice (Washington has TONS of hills) then because the 6" of snow was gonna freeze tonight I did donuts in our street breaking down all the snow that is 6" and would scrape other cars. Boy these things are great. In fact they are much softer, quieter, and handle better than the stock tires the IS250 comes with.
Truly fun.

Standard tires that came with the 2011 IS250 AWD, with 17,000 miles on them.
