Default Thinking of selling her...

Any ideas on a good asking price? 2007 IS350. She sits right under 59xxx miles. Coil-overs, 20" Vossens, new rear tires, front lip, roof spoiler, and CAI. All options except the ML stereo. Lifetime Sirius.

Thanks in advance.

I am interested to know how the mods affect the resale. I would assume it hurts the value. I would rather mod a "stock" car vs. buying one that has already been modded (the mods make me think the car has been driven hard).

If that was my ride, I would start at $26,900, that's my opinion...

my suggest is to put it back to stock and sell your aftermarket mods for more money compare to trading it with what is right now..that's what most member do when trading?selling their ride....

Thanks for all the replies and compliments. I love the look also but just need a little more room. Sadly, I do not have any OEM parts so as she sits is how she will sell. I was thinking asking $25k and go from there.

Agreed. Only way you'll make or break even is parting out or finding some spoiled hs kid w rich parents. Craigslist it. You'll run into joy riders low ballers and dreamers lookin for China town deals but if you're patient you'll find a buyer.

If you sell privately, you'll attract a certain crowd which may limit the amount of potential buyers. If its stock, you open it up to more buyers. You can also take the items off and offer it for more $ to a buyer.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I actually think it applied to my car. When I was shopping used for a used IS350, I found my example at a nearby dealership and it'd been sitting there apparently for quite a long time. So long, in fact that they'd taken the price down from $28k to $25k. One of the big reasons (I suspected this and the dealership all but confirmed it) was that this car had optional 18" ISP wheels, the GFX kit, and F-Sport exhaust. They said they'd moved a bunch of stock used 2IS, but couldn't move this one because very few people were interested in a modded car. I happened to be one of those people.

But in general, you're facing an adverse selection issue with selling your car as is. You're limiting the market to people who like modded cars, and that's a small minority of car buyers. In addition, this isn't the most affluent minority of buyers you're limiting yourself to (young males on a college/bachelor budget?).

It might not even be the mods themselves that turn buyers off. It could be the image the car evokes and of the history they imagine it's had. As said above, if you're on the used market looking at a car like yours and then one that's the same in every respect except it's stock, you're going to assume 1) your car's been driven harder, and 2) there's more potential issues with your car because less is covered by warranty and some of the work may have been done by the previous owner himself or a less-than-reputable shop.

Everyone I know (myself included) would simply skip over this car's listing. The only reason I was attracted to my car was they were all Lexus parts installed by the selling dealer so they were covered by warranty.

At the very least, sell the wheels separately. Buy some used stock IS wheels off the Classifieds for a few hundred dollars and then sell yours in the same place. I doubt you'll find a buyer who will pay a premium for your car if the Vossens are on it, but you WILL find a buyer who will pay for them separately on the classifieds.

As far as price, I bought my 2007 IS350 with 56k miles from a dealer with lux package, nav, the above upgrades, and it was CPO all for $24,500. I'd say starting at $25k would be reasonable, but I would imagine it will sell for $1-2k less.

+1 its always better to sell a car close to stock as possible after market parts dont really do anything for trade in's.

You could probably buy stock wheels and sell the vossens for more than you pay for the stockers... or possibly trade yours for stockers+cash.

If you're in no hurry you can try and sell as is first, but yeah, modded it's going to be like if you find someone who wants THAT car with THOSE mods you'll have an easy sale, but to the rest of potential buyers, not so much.

Definitely part it out and sell the car stock.

You can easily sell the coils, wheels and CAI for stock parts + cash

Front lip + Roof spoiler will be an easy sale too
