Unhappy 2007 headlight ballast blew out... can i use aftermarket??

ok so my driver side headlight blew out and now in need to replace the ballast (it does not "HUMMM" when on) so was wondering if i can just buy a aftermarket kit and use that or so i have to buy the oem ballast. head light is all full of moisture so pretty sure there is a small lake were the ballast is at now and would like to move it put of the housing to prevent that from happening again.

oem ballast: 80 bucks

aftermaket kit: 2 ballast 2 bulbs 30 bucks

thanks

yup and u can run the stock setup as long as you get a special adapter from the aftermarket ballast to the ballast ignitor i believe

Keep in mind you'd be sacrificing light output as well as warm-up time by switching from OEM to aftermarket equipment

Id probably get the OEM one. It will be better for the long run.....the aftermarket one will be cheaper, but as Kimquatism said - that comes at a price.

I would stick with the OEM ballast! Worth the extra cost.

When it comes to this I rather pay $30 more and buy it new form the dealer. It's not that much more and you will know it is a new, %100 working part.

$80 and you are set...

$50 and you might have to replace it again.

Can you post what was final done to fix the issue, did you replace the ballast and if so did you do the work, or someone else and how was it done, by melting the glue on the headlamp and removing the head cover to get to the wiring harness inside?

Where did he get the new headlight at? did it come with the Ballast inside already, because I saw some parts place online that where selling the entire unit for around $300 and I would assume it is an entire unit maybe minus the bulb as this will be my fall back point if replacing the bulbs do not work on my 07 IS350.
