Default Hydroplaning: not as fun as drifitng

So i was heading to my friend's house this morning and i guess i took a turn too fast and hydroplaned into a power pole grounding wire. i shouldve known better and drove slower, it had been raining and guam's roads are hella slippery.

^atleast i can join a new club now. the dent on your roof club yay!

called the insurance company and we'll see what happens. i have full coverage and a $500 deductible. but seeing as how it was my fault, how much of it will the insurance company actually cover?

^they should cover everything... but your premiums might go up. Glad you're ok though!

What tires are you running? I have Michelin PS2s.... and can go though standing water at 65+++++ like knife though butter! The newer PSS is even better! I highly recommend you get some good grip tires... worth every penny. (And don't get all seasons ... )

Yah some spots in Guam do get really slippery also with first rainfall. My moms 4Runner would slide all over the place in liguan terrace.

I hydroplaned once (not in this car). It was right after some heavy rain and up ahead I saw the light is about to turn yellow, so I speed up ... yeah. There wasn't a lot of water on the road, but when I got closer to the light, the road surface was fill with a layer of water. I feel the car lose traction and make this weird loud noise between the tires and the road. I let go of the gas and then slowly start to brake when I felt there's more traction between the tires and the road. I was able to make a complete stop a few feet past the white lines (the light had turn red for a while already). I was almost sure I was going into incoming traffic ...

That really sucks, at least your physically ok. Insurance should cover it all but your premium is going to shoot up.

Filing a claim doesn't necessarily mean your premiums will go up. I hydroplaned once and filed a claim on my insurance and my premiums did not go up. Best of luck to you.
