So i decided to put the seibon kit on my car since i'm going to give it to my gf.
When i got it kit everyone was cool, but then i decided to test fit it. So I went to my buddies shop
we started the test fit. The front and sides fit like a glove just like they said it would.
Then i got to the rear and the right side fit perfect and then i looked at the left side and there was a GAP. Seibon says that they don't have gaps and that they would exchange if it there were any. If you guys ever seen the vender posts they have here on CL then you guys know what i'm talking about.
Anyways, I sent e-mails back and forth with seibon with my car is350 setting at the body shop waiting for the rear. And in the end seibon sends me and an e-mail saying that my body shop isn't installing it correctly. I was thinking in my head "how are they not installing it correctly when the other pieces fit just perfectly and the only problem is that one side of the rear has a gap and the other doesn't!" Then they said that the rear has too much material on the side that has a gap and that the body shop needs to custom fit it to the car. Ok so who here thinks that if a car company makes a specific lip kit for a car that you should have to CUSTOM fit it. That made no sense to me because the kit is made specifically for the car therefore i have to pay the shop to cut and paste it on? In the end they told me that they weren't going to change it and they told me to go to a body shop that they said would know how to "custom fit it" for me. I say F*** that I'm not paying anyone to mod the rear.

The first 3 pics are one side of the rear and the last 2 are the other side which has NO GAPS.

I see the gap. Maybe they can remove the rear bumper and use an epoxy to connect the bumper to the rear lip by pushing on it while it's off the car and you can push on it from the back side of the bumper. Just a thought.

That sucks never heard that problem with them.. Why dont you add a weather strip or something that sits between the kit and your bumper at least that would fill in the gaps..... Or have you tried mounting the side with the gap first and then seeing if the opposite side still has the gap ?

word of advice, no aftermarket company will have perfect kits. there will always be some imperfections. sorry bud

Ya i know there are imperfections but its really odd that one side fits and the other doesnt. But the thing is that you would think there would be a gap on both sides right?

Not to mention i spent almost 3000 at seibon to get the whole kit with the TS hood and the 2 piece truck. They didn't want to change this one part for me

that sucks i would think as long as there is no damage to the lip they would at least either try and help you out or exchange it..

Thx buddy! I was about to buy this kit. Thx for the heads up, sounds like I'll have better chance buying the cheap china made stuff, hell you still gotta pay for the name brand china carbon to get fitted might as well pay half the price. Siebon= china made carbon. Go figure! GL buddy!

I just don't see paying more for something that it's already supposed to do. It's like buying a new car and telling the customer don't worry about the loose wheel just pay a shop to fix it. What about warranty/customer service?
It's funny how companies bash customers and customers bash the company right back in forums killing their sales! This post just changed my mind about getting that same kit. So instead of giving you a replacement and making it right they just lost another sale just to save a 65-100 part(Siebon cost). Tells you about the company!

All Seibon stuff seems to have fitment issues like this. They will tell you go have it "professionally installed" for better results if you complain.

I've always solved these problems by attaching the rear lip with a few tubes of high strength silicon and then filling the small gaps with a bead of black caulking. Works great and isn't noticeable at all. I had to do this with my Seibon rear and sides on my old 350z.

Yeah that's a pretty noticeable gap. You may need to have your body shop remove the rear bumper just to get more play and see.

Not even 3M's acrylic plus double sided tape will fill in a gap that wide. If it did it will peel off over in a matter of days due to tension.

Worse comes to worse is to use a filler and paint it black. You will often encounter problems like this with aftermarket FRP/ CF lip and rear spoilers/ diffusers.

So i kind of fixed the problem with the gap as much as i could. i had to use silicon to make it stick like a crazy. The only problem i got is that its too small for the HKS hi-power exhaust. I can hear them tapping against each other. I think if i heat wrap the exhaust it will probably help it. I'll post some pics of work done soon. There is too much tension on the rear lip when you have to CUSTOM install it. I'm afraid that its going to crack off one day.
