Question What the heck is this noise??

Just started. Dealer says it's the AC motor. Any quick and inexpensive solutions for this? It's a 2008 IS-350. It comes on right at startup and lasts about 30 seconds or so. Happens on every startup now.

Thanks.

That definitely doesn't seem normal.

I'd prefer not to since they said it will cost minimum $400-600. The service advisor said she had the same problem with hers, and she just ignores it. It's easy for me to ignore it because I don't drive it. It's my wife's car.

Hoping someone else dealt with this since it doesn't appear to be unique to her car. My first concern was that it has something to do with the air bag since it sounds like an air compressor. But if it's the AC motor, I might be able to swap it out with some DIY assistance.

Sounds like blower motor not ac motor. Turn ac off turn car off then turn car on does it happen? If same noise then it's blower motor

That could be a blend door actuator.

It's got to be some type of blower or fan! Doesn't sound too bad but must have it fixed. Certified?

Sounds like the blower blade came loose or is out balance is it hitting the inside of the blower housing.

Had the exact same noise on my '04 GS430. It was the fan motor that circulates the air. Sounds like the dealer is right. You could have a local shop do the work, but I wouldn't. When I had it fixed, the whole dash had to be removed, which is why it was so expensive --> labor. Not to mention the dashes on our IS's are far more complex than my older GS.

If you can stomach the price, I would have the dealer take care of it.

I knew this was going to start happening.. I posted about this months and ago and no one had any idea what I was talking about. I have come to figure out that its the door the moves from fresh air to recirculated air. Peep my video, I figured out how to make it stop as a temp solution.

I had that noise. It appeared after I changed my cabin filter, What I did was just fiddle around with my cabin filter, and eventually, the noise just stopped. Good luck!
