Default What tire pressure are you running for stocks..

My tire dealer loves 34. I have a buddy that gets great mileage and swears by 40.

What are you thoughts? I do not push hard and am interested in longer tire life...

Tks.

The dealership or certain tire dealers may prefer the lower pressure because it it will have better performance. In doing so, the tires will work harder therefore it will have reduced tire life. If you go higher pressure, the tires don't work as hard, therefore increasing tire life. Depending on what you want, you would choose accordingly to what you are looking for.

For my car, my pressure is at 36-38 fronts and rears is 38-40 and I wanted increased tire life - as per the tire tech's recommendation for my driving use for general street use.

I always inflated slightly over 42 thinking I'd get better gas mileage. When it came time to replace my snow tires, the middle was almost bald while the outer threads had about 3/32 left. Guess it was due to over-inflating constantly. I just do 1 PSI more than what the door jam sticker says, so 36 front and 39 rear.

It also depends on the climate when the temp was set. Make sure you're not using a cheap tire gauge because it would not show an accurate reading.

What do you guys recommend for a good and accurate, but not too expensive tire pressure gauge?

thanks.

I would say the one's from tirerack would be the ones to get. Various price ranges depending on what you want to get.
