Default A Questions for NYC & NJ IS x50 or anyone else with bad roads

Nyc has like the worst roads, pot holes and both front tires have bubble. I been doing some research on Tirerack and I just figured let me see what works the best for us. I'm looking to buy tires in the next 2 days.

What are the best a/s tire to purchase for the stock wheels 225/45R17?
All These tires are pretty much high rated except the eagles f1 (poor rating)

I'm looking for something with a strong side wall. What A/S tires are you guys using?

Continental ExtremeContact DWS $127 (a lot of people with is250 say they bubble on the review section.)
Pirelli PZero Nero All Season $136
Kumho Ecsta 4X Blackwall $107
General G-MAX AS-03 Blackwall $114
Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season $144

The DWS is a nice tire in terms of A/S performance. It has a rather weak sidewall compared to other tires

Thanks guys, How do you find out if a tire has a strong or weak sidewall?

I have to get my tire very soon, before i get a blow out.

Those would be my choices.
I don't think there's much difference in tire sidewalls when it comes to potholes.

For now my tires are brand new due to recently purchased my is350, I used to have is250 before and got bubbles couple of times that's why I always go with used tires because in NYC it's worthless to put brand new tires.
I used to get tires from queens there is huge junkyard behind Stadium, just for $30 or $40, 85%-90% used.

Lol, Yes I know about that spot. I haven't been by there in about a year. But last time I was there You could lose an bumper, driving through there with their crated size pot holes.

Look I live and drive in the city everyday... unless you are racing you don't need to worry about strong tires... most street are decent to drive on and remember our cars are not for speed racing, but to look good in... the occasional bump, that's something else though :b

when I bought my car in nyc i got about 25 miles out and into new jersey and got a flat tire right there. I changed them with some crappy no name tires since I knew I d get a bunch more flats from the crappy michigan roads too. surprisingly, they have held up terrifically. my is 300 had kumhos, bridgestones, and generals and they all popped regularly...but with the warranty, I got new tires every couple thousand miles when one would pop for only 13$

So you recommend getting Roadhazard Warranty, and once one pops: They will give you a new one, do you have to repurchases the warranty each time they replace it.?

Try looking for a tire with a XL (extra load) rating, they have stronger shoulder/sidwalls http://blog.tirerack.com/blog/miles-...at-should-i-do

Thanks you, That pretty much what I was looking for. I actually spoke to the guys on TireRack and ended up getting the Pzero All Season. So far great traction, and ultra quiet and they rated XL. I also purchased the roadhazard just in case.

Thanks again.
