There just isn't enough room in the headlight with the type of LED setup they were using to also keep the AFS motor in there.
AFS is optional on the 2013 GS, but I assume the lights are designed differently to handle it. Also the GS uses only Bi-Xenon with no halogen high beam, so there is more room in the headlight for other things. The GS350 has rear-mount bulbs and super easy to change ballasts though, so they should have wider output than the IS anyway. Having AFS would be icing on the cake. A few new Toyota/Lexus models are going to the new ballast design (Round ballast behind the bulb. It is the cover you remove to get to the bulb. Very easy to change.)
I have a feeling that AFS will likely get added back to the IS when the 3IS comes out, as they will have a change to design the headlights with enough room for both.
Also can you ask them if stripped set come with relay flasher ?
I called this morning and left a voicemail once they call me back ill let you guys know if they are the 2011 or 2012 lights and if they come with the relay.
i swapped out my bulbs for aftermarket HID's do i still need the fully loaded lights ??
Not sure if you got an answer, but yes.

If you bought yours from Sewell you should be able to return them for the TSIB product within that first year (they certainly won't do the install/reinstall for you though). Hope it works out for you.
