So this guy is saying that Lexus has no place in the "performance" world.
TL;DR- Lexus is for old people who need viagra and "hate cars". Alleges driving an IS is like playing a video game (though he's never driven one) and calls the the F-Line "repackaged garbage".
This irk anyone? I'll admit he trolled me enough to get a flame post. Maybe it was the wrong thing for me to do but I can't help but want to defend Lex...You see they gave me my beloved 350 after all.
What do you guys think? I'd say he has a valid point in how over priced F-sport stuff is. But beyond that it seems like he's just hating all over Lexus and alleging that all us Lexus owners are old, half-blind, incontinent accountants with erectile dysfunction...

Haters gonna hate. Don't take it too personally. And quite frankly his arguments are all over the place and some down right ignorant.
Starting off with something completely subjective, what debacle? Lexus a tier 1 brand like BMW, MBZ, and Audi can have a sport line. All of which the aforementioned manufacturers have; M-Sport, AMG, S-Line/RS. The successful formula that Lexus started using more than 20 years ago is just as relevant today as if was back then albeit it has evolved since its beginnings to compete. To say Lexus can't have sport cars is absurd. Sport cars have always been a part of Toyota's rich heritage; see 2000GT, Celica, MR2, Supra. Almost as absurd as saying budget automakers can't make nice cars; see Hyundai.
Clearly he's never visited CL, MY.IS, or any other Lexus enthusiast site.
Complete ignorance. IS, GS, LS, have a completely different architecture than any other Toyota products (save for the RWD Mark X)

Oh and how about this tidbit of information while Lexus has BMW in it's sights, the BMW decides to go the Lexus route with the latest 5-Series. That's right 400lbs more pounds of luxury that the outgoing E60 lacked. So when the the latest GS came out how much weight did it gain?? oh just 38lbs over the outgoing 2011 model... suck it Trebek
Wow really? That old song and dance. Well for starters the 2013 GT-R is $96,820 not below $70K when it was first released. And Value?? There is no value. It is a limited run of 500 Halo cars built at a loss to demonstrate the pinnacle in Toyota/Lexus engineering. This isn't a run of the mill common GT-R, it is rarer than a Ferrari and Lamborghini. It's poised and balanced and not a 2-ton behemoth like the GT-R. The LFA is priceless in every aspect save for monetary. So I'll enjoy that screaming V10 while you relish that twin-turbo V6....

On the other, we have the entire F debacle – cars that have no reason to exist – cars that a Lexus purchaser has no interest in, and cars that are grossly expensive.
Think about this – when was the last time you met a Lexus owner who was interested in hopping up their car with the hottest parts to tear up the streets? Exactly.

So, aside from transforming your badge-engineered Toyota transportation appliance with overpriced, repackaged aftermarket garbage, Lexus also offers to option to purchase a “pre-riced” car.
Furthermore, no Lexus buyer or luxury car buyer, for that matter, wants an engine without peak torque until eleventybillion RPMs – they don’t want to rev, they want to waft. They want a car powered by something like a twin-turbo V12 – torque everywhere – instantly, all the time. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley – twin-turbo V12s are on offer from all of them. These companies know luxury.
How in the hell is a $400,000 supercar (that’s not even faster than a $70,000 Nissan GT-R) supposed to be a value proposition?
Who gave them the idea that there was any demand for this vehicle whatsoever? Again – people who want a car like that aren’t going to look at Lexus in the first place. They’re going to go to the BMW dealership and plunk down on a new M5.

well if he's reviewing the IS series without ever actually driving one then he has no credibility imo. I'm 21 and my appendages work fine, so there goes the "all lexus owners are old" absolute. This guy is just an *** with an opinion that he'd like to get heard, not like it will actually reach many ears to the point where it'll hurt lexus' sales lol

The only relevance I see to him hating, is that the 2IS is very limited in performance. I can't speak for all models across the board, present and past, I don't know much about their performance abilities. Other than that, he's a liar, my car is a blast to drive

Makes me sad though bro's. Bums me out that people rag on such an awesome car. Sure she's got some shortcomings but I'd take her over any other car, and I used to own a 335i. I guess not everyone can look past the brand name...

His point about Lexus not being allowed to make performance cars is completely ridiculous considering every luxury car manufacturer also has a performance line. Why would Lexus be excluded?
However, I do think there is something phony about the F-sport brand. Originally, only the IS-F has the F on the side of the car. It meant something. Now, any IS can be an F-sport and gets an F badge. It's poser material. Like taking a 250 emblem and replacing it with a 350 emblem. The F-sport parts that come with the F-sport package aren't even performance parts, they're appearance mods!? You have to pay EXTRA for the intake and exhaust, separate from the F-sport package. What sense does that make?!?
Granted, the author didn't even get into that aspect. Had he, I'd have given him a shred of credit. Since his rant is just saying Lexus shouldn't do it, he's a complete troll.

Being honest, I tends to agree to most of the thing he opined in his article. I went through the same thought when I was trying to decide between BMW3, Merc C Class and the IS. And I had the same as what he said. Lexus is for luxury but not as good as BMW in terms of sportiness and road-feel. But in the end, I chose the IS and I still think till now that I have made the right decision. Everyone has their own preference. Just choose the product that is best suit our taste.

My biggest issue with the ISf is the use of slushbox (auto) transmition. I am true believer that performance car do not need to be luxurious at all. They should be light have plenty of raw performance with stiff but drivable suspension. This is exactly why I like my E46 M3. The new generation M3 with the V8 lost that raw feel of the E46 M3 and gained good 400lbs on previous generation. The road feel is not the same as the previous generation car. It feels a lot more numb and heavier. That's the exact feeling I got when test driving the ISF. Even worse the ISF came with a 8 speed slushbox. So instead of getting rid of my old M3 I decided that my best solution is to have two cars. My M3 for fun days, and my IS AWD to drive through winters and be comfortable in. My basic view is that if you want luxury and comfort you buy a car with luxury and comfort. If you want a car that can perform than you buy a car you can have fun with that feels raw and like a true sports car. Combining the two is just an oxymoron as you have to sacrifice one for the other.

poser huh? Tell that to AMG package, M-Sport package and S-Line. Anyway, the badge the F-Sport package gets is a F-Sport badge, different from the F badge. Granted the F-Sport package is mostly cosmetics, but the suspension is different, so is the steering ECU. And reason it doesn't come with F-Sport accessory parts (intake/exhaust/etc) is because the F-Sport parts is a North American Lexus thing, and NOT from factory, whereas the F-Sport package is straight from factory. The two are completely separate.
However, I do think there is something phony about the F-sport brand. Originally, only the IS-F has the F on the side of the car. It meant something. Now, any IS can be an F-sport and gets an F badge. It's poser material. Like taking a 250 emblem and replacing it with a 350 emblem.
