New Here Just bought a 07 IS350
Hey guys, just joined and I just bought my fiance a 2007 IS350, has every option possible. I've searched and done a lot of reading and have found most of the answers I needed. Her car has the factory HIDs.
I do still have a couple questions that I haven't been able to get solid info on.
The "city" driving lights, they are a 194 correct?
I noticed today that when the lights are off, the bright lights are on, but dim, and when you turn the headlights on, the brights go off, and the city lights come on. Is this correct?
So in order to have the daytime running lights and city driving lights a HID color, I would have to replace the high beam lights for the daytime and city lights for night, right?
Also the HID lights are giving me some problems. They come on fine, stay on and will work intermittent and sometimes shut off. The driver and passenger side both do it, sometimes one or the other, or both at the same time. If you turn the switch off and back on, they will both come back on and work fine for a little while, then repeats the problem. I've read that this is a common occurrence when the bulbs are going bad, I just want to make sure before I spend around $300 for some bulbs when it is a ballast malfunction or something like that.
I've also read that the HID bulbs are better to be replaced by the dealer and not a DIY. Why is that? Lexus of Memphis says they charge $55 to do it, which isn't bad at all, but seems like if it is that cheap, I should be able to do it myself.

No need to have a dealer install the HID bulbs, aside from lining their pockets. Very easy job - 30 min max the first time, 10 after that. And do not pay $300 for bulbs. There are excellent aftermarket HID bulbs for a third that price. Check the recent threads I've posted - I posted a review of XenonDepot Xtreme 5000Ks that look cleaner and whiter than stock for about ~$100-120 a pair.

To help with a few. You do not need to switch anything around inside the headlights.
The daytime running lights are 9005. The parking light 194.
Sounds like you have OEM HID which is better IMO, however you will spend more money replacing ballasts.
The bulbs can be bought for $40-$300
Garax is a good brand for a good price.
And lastly, don't pay stealerships for anything unless you really aren't in any way at least a tinni winni bitti mechanically inclined, save transmission swaps or something cray..
