Make sure you take it to a good shop to repair that quarter panel damage is a PITA to fix correctly.

That looks pretty bad... glad to hear you are ok.

Hopefully there were no damage to the frame...

I'm not sure about the frame integrity of the the car. If there is frame damage, I consider getting a brand new one.

Don't want possibly new odd welds in where they don't belong in frame if you get what I mean.

A total would be nice but it looks like around $12K or so in damage.Depending how bad the frame is.
Glad you weren't hurt. That was some rear shot to absorb.

I was hit in the rear with the wife's Camry by a Ford Windstar and the damage was just under $8K with minor frame damage.Doesn't look bad but the trunk was replaced too.Repaired the car and dumped it.

Glad your ok. Always scared of this.....the damage looks expensive, but the hit does not look to bad. I'm guessing the damage is mainly because of the size of the suburban....and the F whatever that hit him. Their cars look like they got off pretty well.

Try to get them to total it.Not worth the hassle with that hit.
My damage was like $7600 with tax but I forgot I was forced into the car in front of me.No big hit just a new painted bumper cover and grill pieces for about $800.So the rear hit alone was actually about $6400.

its most likely totaled I buy cars from the insurance auctions and you car will need a rear clip and I have seen cars with less damage it at the auctions depends on the adjuster.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING...

The guy that hit everyone has a commercial policy through Nationwide.
- Nationwide has not been able to get a hold of him for a statement, so they have yet to claim liability.
- I have been advised to do a claim through my own insurance company, and then when Nationwide takes liability they will surrogate and pay Allstate back.

If Allstate doesn't total, can i wait for Nationwide to look at it before i start the work on the car???

^^ You'll need to talk to your own insurance company about how they want to handle this now. In a rear end accident like this, this is gonna go one of two ways usually.... Either the guy that hit everyone is going to pay for both cars OR if the driver of the Suburban didn't keep enough of a distance, then its possible the driver of that truck in the rear will have to pay for damages to the Suburban, and the driver of the Suburban will pay the damages on your car (for not having kept a safe distance)

Either way, call your insurance agent, fill them in on and everything and THEY will advise you on what to do. They will figure it out for you.

But damn looking at the front of the Suburban, you can barely even tell that the Suburban hit you that hard.
That truck in the back must have delivered one pretty hard impact
For the sake of not running into headaches down the road, I hope they just total it so you can move on.

That's a pretty bad assumption. A terrifyingly large number of people most of the time speed anywhere from 5 to 10 MPH over the limit.

It takes quite a bit of self-control to diligently follow speed limit laws.
