So I finally got an alignment today after 200 miles from my new coils. I normally take my car to Sonic MS they've been doing my alignments for 3 years now. Today I took it to a closer shop. After my alignment everything was fine until maybe 30 miles my check engine light and traction control came on and didn't go away. I'm wondering could this be from the alignment? The tech mention my rear passenger toe bolt was kind of weird but I have never had this problem before. My MPG was also resetted after which has never happen either. Any insights?
^^Yeah I'm pretty sure its from the pistons being done since you just had them done. And the MPG will be reset if the battery is disconnected, i'm sure if you had the pistons replaced they disconnected the battery while working on the car.
My mpg was at 35.8 when I dropped it off for alignment and when I got it back it was at 15.2 so the alihnment guy probably disconnecte the battery. And also the traction control light is on. I've driven the car since I got it back nothing was wrong until I got the alignment.
Whenever the "check engine" light comes on, the car disables VSC and illuminates the traction control light; so there is probably nothing wrong with that system. What you need to do is to connect an OBD2 code reader and see why the check engine light is on. Though given that you just had major engine work done at the dealer, I'd probably just bring it back there.
Simplest solution is just to take it back to the dealer. It just had major engine work done, they should check it for free and let you know if its related
I just spoke with the tech that did my alignment and he said my rear passenger toe bolt was loose and was unable to tighten it back completely, maybe the cause of issue?
